They should have given him some healing potions and he would be as good as new.

so there was this thing I used to do as a toddler when I finished all my food. I'd twist my hands back and forth and say "All gone, no more"

It's a prequel, so important characters (that you usually don't see later in the main story) dying off is to be expected, but that still wasn't fun.

I was totally ready for them to get wiped in the dungeon just like in every other standard fantasy manga. But as usual, Mushoku Tensei shirks convention, and I appreciate that a lot.

Instead of everyone dying, they explore a more human element of these characters. Putting his death there right after Roxy had placed all of her faith on him is impactful and tragic.

This series almost singlehandedly proves that the isekai genre can be well-written.

It's funny how isekai stories somehow often end up being more compelling when they forget about the isekai element and just focus on characters and plot.

Dang, I knew it ended in tragedy, but that struck like lightning and left you feeling bitter at the end.

Felt like Dale's death was inevitable and the feeling of his death was fleeting. Doesn't seem like he should have died due to his capabilities and skills

If they'd taken some time off to git gud instead of chasing gold and rank, he might not have gotten ganked by a fucking pebble like the plebeian he is. Good riddance.

@JaffaOrange: I think the premise of isekai was to create opportunities for characters of modern time to interact with other worlds, as well as helping authors to bring modern knowledges into the story easier without needing much explanations. It was supposed to explore different values between the two worlds. But now, most isekai just keep revolving around the same old cliches.
