If they're conventional western cavalry, a square formation would be just fine. But this is archer cavalry, so they can't just stay still while being shot at.

Just let the artillery play as long as the cavalry keeps their distance (it has greater range than the archers have) and have the infantry have discipline enough to form up into squares quickly when charged to protect the gunners (they can hide in the middle of the squares), and with good bayonets (not socket ones) they can gun down the cavalry just as quickly as they try to 'arrow them if they're close (and use bayonet spears against any charges).

The cavalry can still be troublesome, but it's not in a stand-up battle, rather they'd have to harry supply trains or try to make sudden strikes while the force is on march.
