Sad but it is what war is, no higher up will mourne or even care about who die in battles, if you die means you out of luck, but if you won HOL UP WE MUST SHARE THE GLORY, end of story.
O7 to the fallen
While it is a tragedy, at least those 4 girls get to have a proper burial
For a Soldier, being buried in your homeland within a proper cemetery with tombstones is the best you can hope if you fall on the battlefield rather than being left behind in another country with no proper grave.
Really love the mix of politics, military life, and combat in this story. I really felt for the losses they suffered and hope for a scenario where they can be safe.
... This is what they mean when they say 'Party over Country', huh ?
Damn, now I want a side Gaiden story where the fallen girls get isekai into modern day Japan... but with their memories still mostly intact. ...... Tho it will be sad when overtime more girls start showing up to join em :/
Nice chapter, well done, the only thing that mildly bothered me is the 3 graves were slapped in the middle of the cemetery, not a end of the path to close it, smacked in the middle.
I presume it was to make a more gran scene with the other graves surronding them, but looking at it from a distance is just werid...
And about fox lady,
they are right, her wish to not be put down in her own family or used as a pawn and become a important figure that doesn't have a leash is understandble, but she joined hands with a enemy nation, trafficked miltary technology, sabotaged military operations, made the kingdom lose border territory and sacrificied thousand of lives for her plans, both nobles and commoners, and she didn't cover her tracks or plans well enough, spoiler from the novel but even without the following chapters end of this arc she wouldn't have lasted long, literally had everyone with power as a enemy, and they knew her to be too cazy to work with, willing to use and betray anyone.
They shall not grow old,
As we who are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
And in the morning,
We will remember them.
