Sometimes I do wonder where this idea of pushy rapey dudes in manga comes from. It's so incredibly prevalent in manga, I have to ask myself if they mirror a problem in Japan or if it's just because they love the trope where the hero saves the damsel in distress. Most of the time it happens in public places (my suspension of disbelief would be less taxed if it was at a private party) and involves minors (in this chapter they even point out that she is a high school girl - wouldn't that be a huge red flag?) and as such puts you in a terrible spot, even if it's consensual (as this very manga has hammered home several times).

Yes, I do know that women get accosted in creepy and hurtful ways quite often, but I'm more wondering where this trope comes from, specifically concerning Japan.

edit: The only thing I saw when those two dudes came up was the guy shouting "I'm going to jail!" meme

Does Japan really ALWAYS have these kind of douchebag dudes who push their cocks on every cute girl they see?

@Weabooribs There could be so many reasons, then one or some of them are for each different work...
I think one of the reasons is also that the author or artist just uses fragments of predecessor works to fill chapters' pages.
Don't you just copy pictures when you first learn how to draw? They learn such tropes like this bad one the same ironic way, don't they?

I can read anything, and as long as the author gives their heart to it or there isn't trash logic or stuff like douchebags starring work...
As long as that, I read just calmly.

I can read tragic and harsh stuff fine, but when stupid tropes like these are found in supposedly light works, I get disturbed...
I mean, when you are not in the mood, you are just not in the mood. These stuff just discourage continuing reading the thing.
Well, this is referring to other works rather than this heavy one which I'm only skimming...
For example, this...:
Yakumo-san wa Ezuke ga Shitai. vol. 3 ch. 18

What an oddly tough side of this world eh. XD

Would be funny if the author subvert the expectation and she's actually raped (I mean, what are the chances our office worker mc will be there)

Though I don't think that will happen, ethic, law, and all

so either she gets raped (doubt this happens, this is just drama bait and you can't taint the self-inserter's prize) or assaulted but MC shows up and saves her (probably will happen)

buuuut then he proclaims his sick "love" for a 15 year old girl and then has sex with her (as he continues to ignore the girl's real need for professional help, mental issues, desperation for a father figure, takes advantage of her vulnerable state after saving her and so on)… either way, some dude is going to jail

but ya, this manga's need to drama on top of drama, so the stupid cliche "rapey dudes are everywhere" shit is of course being used to create more drama, and give the MC the "hero saves the girl" moment -_-

@Weabooribs it's honestly just a shitty manga trope to create drama. And then ya, the other part to that being put the female in room with rapers, in comes the MC to save her and please the self-inserters -_-

Now in Japan while it does have a lower rape statistic than many countries, things are still not great there.

Reality is that many rape cases are never reported, which is a sad fact in many parts of the world. Reasons for this (not just in Japan) involving things like discussing rape is perceived as “embarrassing” in Japan and public opinion often sways towards blaming the victim rather than the attacker. Also realities like abusive police investigation techniques, failure to take sexual violence seriously and lack of support for victims.

https://www.aljazeera.com/opinions/2018/7/29/japans-not-so-secret-shame/

https://www.statista.com/statistics/864883/japan-reported-cases-rape-and-forcible-indecencies/

Japan also has the same issue of some other countries where the legal definition of rape (in the law) still only covers "use of force/penetration", instead of it covering consent like it does in places like Sweden. Now Japan did amend it's laws in 2017 to cover male victims or rape, but it's still lacking. Cause rape is not just about forcing yourself onto someone and physicality, it also can occur from the issue of no consent, e.g. if someone is too scared to refuse or something like that

Rape while there are many people in the other room... right.
it'd be fucking stupid if it did happen.
