Interesting, I liked it more than I thought I would.
It's weird, it captures an uncomfortable situation. The girl tried, but she couldn't accept it. In her youth and immaturity, she wasn't wise enough to understand what to do, how to act, what she could accept.
The friend did what was probably best and left to start a new life. (Dunno about the reason for choosing to be a guy tho). They both moved on, the guy was able to accept the girl's failings and meet with her as a friend.
It's unfinished and it's confusing but that makes it just a tad more real.
