Those saying this will get axed, not it wont. Manga is selling extremely well. Inuchiku has been so busy with extra stuff for volume releases that it is the reason why there are some breaks between chapters or just short chapters. All of this points to the manga being far from getting the axe, rather, Inuchiku is going through the grinder due to how busy and successful the series has become.

I hope Seven Seas does it justice when they officially bring it to western market and they keep things as loyal as possible to the mangaka's vision.

The confession was cute and bold from Sou, basically she told Nozomu to marry her to stay with her forever.

Grandpa is pleased with this development.

Wait wrong grandpa.

I legit am traumatized by longer running series revealing their super-deep-emotional-heavy-mysterious and highly-complex secrets... and like 5 out of 5 in the past ~2 months have been the most flat mental gymnastic asspull low impact lame ass dogshit obvious mundane thing ever (Aitsu no Kanojo, Kanokari, Oyasumi Fumi-san just to name a few)

Ngl, Ima rate this a 10 if the author puts anything better on paper than all of these bums
Oh they revealed the secret in Aitsy no kanojo?. Could you tell me what the secret was (or what chapter its revealed) so i don't have to read the rest of it?

Well I did not expect Sou to be THAT forward. Even in front of her parents? Like holy crap.

Wait I dropped Aitsu no Kanojo before that reveal, so what's the reason she began dating the friend while having feelings for mc?

So, my thoughts:

The problem from back home: I doubt it’s a misunderstanding as Nozomu seems to think of himself as a bad person “back then”. And it’s enough that it’s required some form of cover up, but not enough that his friends from school know (remember they were messaging him and they didn’t mention anything bad happening).

The incest angle: There does seem to be some family history with incest enough that family members notice and are watchful for it. But not in a “disgust” kind of way, more of a “here we go again” kind of way. The mother does seem worried, but that also might be because they are still literally children, and not in a “they’ll soon be adults so we can wait for graduation” kinda way that some other stories have handwaved. They live together in close quarters for criminies sake.

Nozomu’s thickheadedness: I think Nozomu kind of dismissed her previous confessions as his wishful thinking but the translation seems a bit ambiguous. And, NGL, bit of an emotional roller coaster, with a lot of possible changes to the status quo that every member of the family is gonna have to work out. Cos I don’t think they’ll be able to “you misheard each other over the fireworks” their way out of this one. The genie is well and truly out of the bottle and not going back in. But then they’ll all be trying to process that and Nozomu’s past is finally catching up to them.

Rushedness: I think this is a natural progression. The confession wasn’t untimely, and, as some people have pointed out, there has been a constant undercurrent of tension within each chapter. That couldn’t be sustained with cutesy slice-of-life happenings forever. If it were to conclude in the next ten or so chapters I think that it was natural, not some kind of axe. Despite the slice-of-life setting, there has always been a plot throughline throughout the series that has been consistently chugging along. Extending it would mean we just get filler, and even the best filler is unsustainable. That’s not to say that it has to end, it’d just have to find a new direction post Nozomu’s past and acceptance of his new life in the country, and post confession. What that would be exactly I’m not sure.
