I mean, the problem isn't using the threat of negative stimulation itself, it's the zero to hundred aspect of it. Disowning your kid over something like that? While you could just as easily, say, threaten to withhold your blessing for continued adventurer work? Unreasonable, and hurts the very basis of the parent-child relationship - which is, as Angie rightly points out, unconditional love: "whatever happens, I will still be your daughter".
