it feels like a fantasy but when it does actually happen, usually in black and brown communities, its beautiful to see. I got to see some of that at the Marsha P Johnson Park and at stonewall when i visited new york. theres a great show called P-Valley that has a black trans woman (that cannot transition, but it is handled beautifully) at its heart who is supported and protected by a significant amount of her community. God i just wish there were more places where that could be seen and felt and practiced.

So they weren't a conversion-therapy racket, they were a genuine psychiatric institution, with standards? Except they still think being trans is a psychiatric pathology, instead of a normal thing people do. At least they backed down when the community organized and mobilized.

I think it would be ok for the mom to tell Mu Xiaoen that she's open to having a connection again, but it's not up to her if Mu Xiaoen wants to have that connection with her.

This chapter also has big implications for Shi Xingyuan and how she's going to deal with her own family. At minimum she knows Mu Xiaoen's whole town would fight for her, and I think that's beautiful.

i honestly love the "honestly its so-so" comment because it truly shows hongqin is finally being genuine, not only to xiaoyaang but to herself. she is free from fear, fear of upsetting lao-niu but also the fear of losing xiaoyaang for good like she had xiaoen.
