Some people here should learn how to do reading comprehension. The story is not even subtle about it at all. All of MC's external behaviors were filtered through Harold's original designs. MC's self-serving intention to avoid his own death-flag by helping other people were obscured by the harsh words and manners he portrait. So, for outsiders, his behavior did not match his actions. The Stokes house was reviled for their elitist and selfish behaviors. Sumeragi house has no reason to blindly believes that Harold would genuinely help them. To the point of letting them know his own house was in the decline.

Now, I am curious to see whether Yuno will be caught the MC or something else will happen.
