I wish they would have just killed him. I don't fucking care about any of this. Even if he is "saved" the literal only correct and moral thing to do is for the state to execute him for his insane amount of crimes and victims. This is going to be some Orochimaru being allowed to live his life essentially free levels of bullshit I can feel it.

Agreed.

Any outcome where Shigaraki lives is going to be complete ass, and likely to piss off an insane amount of people. It would completely destroy the image that this series has shaped of him, to have him reduced to some crybaby.

Also there's no realistic way out for him. The dude will likely spend the rest of his life in prison, if not given the death sentence straight up. I don't consider Shigaraki comparable to Adolf, but imagine if after being responsible for an untold number of deaths, and plunging the world into chaos, destroying countless cities and so on, he basically got a slap on the wrist punishment.

There is no good outcome for Shigaraki that won't piss off people in the series and outside of it.

One possibility is that perhaps Nana manages to save him from himself, but perhaps Shigaraki pulls a Spider-man villain move, doing something that results in his death, though it's played out in a way where Deku still did a good thing... idk. I just don't see any good ending from this manga if Horikoshi decides to go the route of sparing Shigaraki.

Tomura's crime is already beyond what a painful past could possibly do but I admire the spirit of of wanting to save people who are suffering.

While I criticized Deku's actions of risking the world just to save a criminal now that we got this far I might as well root for him through the end.

I'm always for letting a criminal live and after his sentence, try to manage him back into society but not on this level of crime.
And a sad past doesn't justify everything. I had a sad past too. Or to give an in universe example, Shuji had a really harsh past too but he learned from it and still aspiring to be a hero.

That said, I don't blame Deku. He's still a teenager and very idealistic. I think he will save Shigaraki on a mental level and at the end he decays be himself or something like that.

Had an interesting MHA dream last night, of basically how this might end, which felt pretty authentic.

In it what basically happened was that between Deku and Nana, they're successful in bringing back Tenko Shimura, separating him from the person that he became, but in response his Shigaraki body and persona basically lost control and went berserk, with all the quirks he possessed destroying his body. Naturally Deku gets pretty emotional, and is unable to do anything to help him, but Nana assures him that this was the best possible outcome all things considered, her remaining by Tenko's side as he dies, with Deku finding himself back outside on the battlefield, being the only person left after all that. I think he still possessed OfA, but there were no other vestiges except the one of All Might, and I guess maybe the first user, but I think he ultimately bid farewell to Deku and passed on, leaving the quirk in his hands, claiming that he doesn't need anyone to guide him anymore.
