Takahiro Fujiwara, the anime voice actor behind Kurogiri in My Hero Academia and Pippin in Berserk: The Golden Age Arc, has died aged 43.
Fujiwara’s agency, Ken Production, confirmed in a statement published on May 21 that the actor passed away on May 14.
Alongside his roles in My Hero Academia and Berserk, Fujiwara was also known for voicing Dorry in One Piece, Eikichi Nebuya in Kuroko’s Basketball, and Sekijou in Kingdom.
My Hero Academia voice actor Takahiro Fujiwara dies aged 43
In a translated statement published on Ken Production’s official website, the agency said: “Our company-affiliated actor Takahiro Fujiwara (43) passed away peacefully on May 14. We sincerely thank everyone for the kindness and support shown to him during his lifetime.”
The statement also confirmed that Fujiwara’s funeral was held privately with close relatives only, in accordance with his family’s wishes.
Following the announcement, the official My Hero Academia account also shared its own tribute to the actor, thanking him for his performance as Kurogiri throughout the anime’s run.
“Takahiro Fujiwara, the voice actor for Kurogiri in the anime My Hero Academia, passed away on May 14, 2026,” the statement reads. “We would once again like to express our gratitude for his performance as Kurogiri, a character who appeared from Season 1 onward, and we pray from the bottom of our hearts for his peaceful rest.”
An official cause of death has not been announced.
