mmm oonce they showed the sister obv twist
still......yea not a good plot twist given the timing....still no backstory (seroiusly all this shit over money? "yea ok")......and we are 68 chapters in
most would like these twists
personally the story isn't fleshed out enough to warrant these types of twists
makes the story shallow and battle manga like
and well if thats how the mangaka wants to create it....cool.
still dramatic and knows how to pull on the heart strings so still readable, jus lots of obvious holes and is ruining the genius it was the 1st 30ish chapters

It occurs to me that the Tosu family is working with the syndicate right now, and it was decided after Kubo figured something out at the end of the previous season. Kocho clearly wants to get back at Kasen leaving her alone with their control freak of a father, and she wants to do it by selling her niece out. Reika being the inheritor is most likely specified in the father's will so Kocho has no power over it, but she was probably promised a cut by Kubo if she would collaborate and let the syndicate take hold of the fortune.

@moozooh that would make sense. it would explain the hostility and disregard for her nieces safety

the heck? this theory makes absolutely no sense

1. koizumi (fake shin)'s internal monologue clearly shows he knows nothing about any collaboration. https://mangadex.org/chapter/1008403/3
2. kyoichi doesn't know anything about collaboration either https://mangadex.org/chapter/987091/4
3. kocho this chapter showed contempt at kasen but kocho didn't state any desire for revenge
4. everything kocho said this chapter suggests she is dutiful to her family (and her father) , nothing suggests she wants to screw over her own family
5. syndicate wouldn't waste time sending koizumi to investigate the tosu head (reika's grandfather) because kocho would already have the info they need.

@ciera
you're misunderstanding. it's clear kocho knows what's going on , so she clearly knows reika isn't in serious danger because yoji was there to stop koizumi (fake shin) from going too far (if needed).
kocho was just taunting kasen because kocho thinks kasen has 'absolutely no right to complain'

@cgr it wasn’t the first time she was put in harms way. Unless the author is going to retcon and say she had goons following along every step of the way since the beginning. Not to mention the numerous opportunities Kasen could have died in the first arc like when those goons invaded their home or when she played daredevil breaking into the apartment. It’s a stretch to suggest sister had 100% oversight over everything that could have gone wrong up to this point. Note we’re talking about the speculation that she was in on it since the very beginning. In that sort of scenario low level flunkies like those guys wouldn’t need to know an important operational secret like that and kocho’s talk about duty was only a means to shun her estranged sister; if she was truly disinherited inFavour of reika she would have plenty of motivation to do this

They both are just enforcers, and Shin is a new freelancer hire. There's no need to inform them about the situation more than they need to know. As for sending someone to investigate their employers, it could be a safety measure to keep tabs on employers so that they would not not screw them over

Why emphasis on didn't and not on state? Desire for revenge is not something you loudly proclaim in somebody's face, and its not like she's the first one in this manga who could be keeping her true intentions to herself. Same with wanting to screw over her family - this chapter shows us that Tosu family is a bundle of backstabbing snakes; in any case, that's the first chapter they appear in and we know pretty much nothing about their conflicts and relationships, so there are tons of room for theories and interpretations

1. tesuo/kasen were put in danger before, reika wasn't. only reika is important for the inheritance, so it's probable kocho truly didn't care about tesuo/kasen's lives.
2. reika's inheritance was only announced recently: https://mangadex.org/chapter/974896/11 , so tosu family probably sent people to watch over/guard reika only recently - new guy shiraku is probably one of the observers/guards since kasen thinks he looks familiar: https://mangadex.org/chapter/977938/8

As for sending someone to investigate their employers, it could be a safety measure to keep tabs on employers so that they would not not screw them over
tosu grandpa's is not syndicate's employer: no one suggested this. moozooh thinks that kocho is syndicate's employer against tosu grandpa's wish, which as I've stated, is complete nonsense.

@mgRdr
There's no need to inform them about the situation more than they need to know.
makes no sense, if koizumi doesn't know enough, he could seriously jeopardize the mission: like how he was seriously contemplating kidnapping reika himself and ransoming her to grandparents: https://mangadex.org/chapter/1008403/4 .
also, syndicate isn't that big , so 'enforcers' not knowing is even stranger.

Desire for revenge is not something you loudly proclaim in somebody's face...
she loudly proclaimed to kasen's kasen is a worthless relative, and worthless parent, so this is pointless: kasen can tell kocho hates her. Kocho also knows the dangerous syndicate is around reika. There is no need for kocho to hide her desire for revenge.

literally everything in the story suggests kocho isn't doing something to completely screw over grandpa tosu and and the tosu family, do you seriously need kocho's internal monologue to tell that moozooh's theory is nonsense?

@cgr it hasn’t been announced at all. if it was leaked by someone orchestrating a plot of revenge or looking to gain something by playing both sides then that would in fact be the only way the syndicate would know about it (and OBVIOUSLY this leak would have had to have been made BEFORE the events of the story took place).

> moozooh thinks that kocho is syndicate's employer against tosu grandpa's wish, which as I've stated, is complete nonsense.

Your opinion.

the heck?
https://mangadex.org/chapter/974896/11
suddenly decided that tosu reika will inherit

https://mangadex.org/chapter/987091/4
'put down tosu reika as heir'

kocho wasn't hiding it either (and monk guy behind her wasn't surprised)
https://mangadex.org/chapter/1022448/10

conclusion : it definitely was announced.

I'm getting tired of pointing out the obvious, so I'll stop debating with you people who clearly don't bother to re-read.

@cgr what part of ‘leaked to the syndicate before the events of the story’ do you fail to understand? MC didn’t know about it, Reika don’t know about it, Kasan don’t know about it. But these nobodies with no affiliation to the family know? Only someone close to the grandfather would know this and leak the information to the syndicate. And again this is BEFORE the story even starts. And let me tell you something that’s obvious is that a person doesn’t disclose the terms of their last will and testament to fucking strangers or put it in the newspapers for everyone to see, because that’s fucking retarded.

...so besides denying the obvious links I gave you, you can still come up with baseless conclusions.

wakufu no tosuku not telling tesuo's estranged family yet =/= not announced throughout its main business/affiliates.

But these nobodies with no affiliation to the family know?
if it was leaked by someone orchestrating a plot of revenge or looking to gain something by playing both sides then that would in fact be the only way the syndicate would know about it (and OBVIOUSLY this leak would have had to have been made BEFORE the events of the story took place).
syndicate = dangerous criminal organization with connections and advanced tech, kubo and shino are clearly not nobodies, so I don't know how you can think this was the 'only way they found out about another organization like wakufu no tosuku.

Your opinion.
which I thoroughly explained , but you choose to ignore.

I'm truly done, no point in replying to you further.

@cgr yes low level nobodies. And you haven’t proven shit. All you’ve done is stated your opinion as fact and completely ignored when I and others have picked apart your flimsy reasoning. At least @moozooh theory makes a lick of sense

Revealing the identity of an employer to low-level enforcers is a serious security risk (and twice so if it is about a fresh freelancer), they need to know enough, but they don't need to know too much. They need to know why they are staking out the girl since they need to know how to act around her, and they don't need to know who hired the syndicate for the operation, because they are not expected to interact with them. We were shown that syndicate grunts do not have autonomy to act upon the mission as they please, their actions are constantly directed and monitored by higher-ups, and they are accountable for each call they make, so there's no need to share the information about the employers unless the said need arises.
also, syndicate isn't that big , so 'enforcers' not knowing is even stranger.
The size does not matter, you know? We were shown that everyone besides Kubo and maaybe a few other sponsors are disposable tools. Being small does not make it a cozy little brotherhood of friendship where everyone shares their secrets
there is no need to hide desire for revenge.
But there is - if you despise someone, it does not mean that you would act upon that, and Kocho hating her sister is not a secret to anyone. Judging by the context, it would have looked suspicious and stupid if she tried to hide her hatred. On contrary, revealing her desire for revenge when a crime syndicate is targeting her nemesis's daughter would have been grounds for counteraction.
literally everything in the story suggests kocho isn't doing something to completely screw over her family
Literally. Everything. No need to be so maximalist about it - I can point you to hundreds story points where nothing relates to Kocho at all. So far the only thing that crosses out the possibility of Kocho orchestrating her revenge is the fact that she haven't said that what happens is her revenge

Revealing the identity of an employer to low-level enforcers
I wasn't talking about employer identity, but even a few basic instructions like: ‘don’t kidnap reika until signal (by employer)’ because koizumi (fake shin) seriously contemplating kidnapping reika https://mangadex.org/chapter/1008403/4 is clear indication kocho didn't hire syndicate to screw over her dad & family
does not make it a cozy little brotherhood of friendship where everyone shares their secrets
crucial mission details =/= ‘friendship secrets'
also: https://mangadex.org/chapter/994505/4 the syndicate is bound together by trust, fear and solidarity. kyoichi breaking it was a major anomaly that only happened because his circumstances were that dire
it would have looked suspicious and stupid if she tried to hide her hatred
which means it would have also looked suspicious and stupid if she tried hide her desire for revenge, kocho just didn't need to go into details. So, as I’ve stated, this is pointless reasoning.
I can point you to hundreds story points where nothing relates to Kocho at all.
I was referring to everything relevant to syndicate & wakufu no tosu's relationship, not obviously unrelated story points.

Some standout examples:

there is not a single word like 'disagreements/rebel/traitor/conflict/informant' from tosu family.

wakufu no tosu has always been referred to as a group. Nothing indicates a single member is unique among the group (and would thus betray them).

syndicate's actions all suggest that they are trying to get as much intel and money as they can from wakufu no tosuku, which they wouldn't do if they were actually working with someone major on the inside like Kocho.

(i"ll sleep now so I'll reply much later)

@cgr shin contemplating kidnapping Reika isn't a clear indication of anything apart from the fact that it's obvious that he has zero idea what's going on.

Did you miss the whole reason why he was contemplating that? It's because the syndicate hadn't been in contact for ages. They haven't been keeping him up to date because they have zero need to. I don't know why you think him disobeying instructions about kidnapping Reika is a clear sign he wasn't given instructions to not kidnap her.

His only job is to get Reika for the syndicate, that's it.
