I really hope it does end up with her telling her previous family the truth and going back with the father (especially since he was apparently loyal to her all this time).

I think there's hope, since the title of the series is written from the perspective of the son.

THis reminds me of another manga with a similar premise except the girl is still in elementary school and she had a daughter rather than a son. Also in that manga she approaches her previous family and tells them who she is in the first chapter.

So it's the same premise but a different approach to it which is always nice to see. Far too many manga take a premise and approach it from the same way as if that's the only way it can go.
