Ahhh, so she probably blames herself for the accident.

(It was not your fault Amelia :meguuusad:)

I'm surprised she got away with fairly light injuries.

I get it scars 'n stuff, but from the backseat of an old beater, I cracked a collarbone and a travel case smacking into me cracked a rib during a wreck. And I had a three point belt on. I only remember until just before the impact, too. Next bit I remember was inside the ambulance.
It looks like their car took it on the side, so I presume she's in the flipped one? Being unrestrained in a rollover wreck is no bueno. That's a very real ejection onto hard pavement risk.

That's completely, unequivocally her father's fault. He's the one driving. It's his responsibility and his responsibility alone to drive safely. Yes, yes, it was very sweet of him to be concerned about her. But he was driving.

I was driving once and my son decided to show me a freaking video. While I was driving. And I didn't stop him. Thanks be to God I actually steered out of an accident that almost happened because I was driving distracted. I pulled over, calmed myself, and gently told him that that was never going to happen again. Because if I'd raised my voice, I'd have lost my mind. The accident would have been my fault for not doing what I needed to do: safely drive the f'ing car.

No, the context from this chapter makes it entirely not her fault. As long as her brother and dad died on impact and nothing more happened afterwords.
It's certainly not her fault, and Simon will likely try to make her see that. But survivor's guilt is difficult enough to overcome on its own, let alone when it's tangled up with the belief that none of them would have been in that place at that moment if not for something she set in motion.

I didn't mean that her guilt was unnatural, it's far from it. The comment I responded to said:
"this isn't wholly her fault either."
I corrected it by saying that it is absolutely not her fault whatsoever.
Whether her guilt is natural or not is another matter.
