"ugly face"

Yup. So prettily ugly that it was so bright to look at directly.

Thanks for the chapter

So hold the fuck up, the curse is that they're so handsome if you tell them, they'll die? So everyone has to tell them they're ugly so they stay alive?!

I mean surely he's eventually going to find out he's not ugly right? I mean that is if he tune in on like latest trends and beauty standards and take a look in the mirror.

I was wondering in the very beginning if there wasn't some contrived reason she shouldn't tell him, but I didn't expect it to be this straightforward XD

@ChibKip:

It is somewhat believable in a medieval fantasy setting, especially with him mostly living in essentially a frontier war-zone all his life and all, such that current fashion and the like mightn't reach him much.

But regardless: I thought the existence of "the castle hypnotist" was quite interesting in this context. If for instance a select few know about him and the ostensible curse, it seems quite possible he's being laboriously kept in the dark by those people concerned for him (say, the three grannies), and he may or may not have been carefully trained (or hypnotized) to think he's ugly.

Oooh, so that's why she never told him in the prologue!!!
I get it, now!! Btw, I really hope that book of secrets has something against cursed or just that one to be exact, or wait, is it maybe because they fused their hearts with that ball thingy??
If that's the case then I can understand...maybe?
Still, he's so adorable, damn girl, you've got a treasure, he's so sweet, so pure, so kind, so innocent, so nice....etc he's excellent!!!

Oooooh so the curse isn't exactly cursing his looks (which made MC the "special one" who can see through his curse), but instead the curse will make him die if someone told the person that their looks are actually good.. hence the terrifying mask 🤔

I can't believe people were still under the impression that our FL was just a shallow, possessive b*tch to the point she was purposefully deceiving Erden about his looks lol
I mean, I know that's what the prologue implied, but if you go all the way back to chapter 5, it's pretty obvious that she started developing feelings for him even before the time-skip and that she truly cares about him and their people. She's always doing her best to protect everyone and she's proved time and time again that she's loyal and brave, totally the opposite of what you'd expect from a shallow b*tch. So really, I don't understand why this is so surprising.

Does he age? If so I wonder who cuts his hair cuz they would know what he looks like.

Also thanks for the translation!

oh so that's why she didn't tell him in the prologue. I knew the FL wasn't doing it on purpose but I still wanted to know the real reason. This makes way more sense now lol, I was expecting something more contrived but this is a perfect explanation.

at first, I was like "what a stupid curse. who thought of this?" But then realized that this ish hurts a lot psychologically. I mean imagine being told that you are hideous every day and that no one should look at your face. Yikes, what an awful curse....

I normally don't mind contrived plots but this is just something else.. I'll read a few chapters after this terrible "action" arc ends and see if it does any better on the whole nobility/romance angle they showed in the prologue
