In a twist: Jiang He is suddenly sent back in time, leaving Xu Qing and the twins without a wife and mother. Series end.
I'll do you one better. It's not Jiang He the one that goes back, but Xu Qing. It's not a series end, it's a plot hook for a sequel!

He manages to use the geography to find her old home and her gang. Thanks to his knowledge of the future, he manages to leave something that will:

A) Survive over 1000 years.
B) Be something that Jiang He and the Twins can find.

I can totally see his father being the first one to notice that some events in books begin to change and describe a gang of people led by someone with the same name and description of his son.

Then a new old book appears, which narrates this story as a fantasy, and Jiang He manages to decipher that the altered situations are all around the places where Xu Qing hid something.

Those places have very very old paper, sealed in wax and honey to avoid rotting.
In modern characters, they're Xu Qing's writing across his life in the past, explaining to his family what happened.

if this is true im gonna crashout this has literally been my favorite romcom
It's been very very good, far better than I'd think a manhua like this would usually be, but all good things have to come to an end. I think the ending is pretty satisfying if it leaves off here, all the characters developed well and there arent any hanging plot threads I think. But when it is done I'm going to set aside some time to go back and read all 300+ chapters. This is definitely one of those manga/manhua that's had an impact on my life, not quite at the level Berserk did, but I'm putting it up there with Musko ga Kawaiikute, Parasyte, and Pluto.

I've forgotten most of the things I knew about traditional naming culture in China, but I was still curious about the kids' actual names, so I looked it up. The sis is 许锦 (Xu Jin) while the bro is 许十安 (Xu Shi An).

Even newbie mandarin learners on rednote should notice that the bro's name uses extremely simple and literal characters, but as Jiang He explained, the literal 许 Xu (surname) + 十 Shi (ten) + 安 An (safe/peace) name is actually a wish for peace - 许(may/wish)十方之地(lands of ten/all directions)皆(all)平安(be peaceful)。

The sister's name, while having a harder-to-write character, is relatively basic from a meaning POV, hence Jiang He's retort. 锦 (Jin), as in 锦绣 (Jin Xiu) literally means embroidery and figuratively means wonderful things in general. Jiang He wishes for her to 享受(enjoy)盛世锦绣(the prosperities of an abundant world)。
