You know what would be cute? The curse somehow jumping to someone else and turning them into a baby, and Sumireko having to take care of them.

Man that 8ft tall yokai can do whatever she wants with because I could literally do nothing to stop her and I wouldn't even fight it. I'd WELCOME it

More like the entire world has a spiritual side, but places that have been populated for a long time are spiritually dominated by regional deities. As a new frontier, so to speak, K-city has no local deities/tochigami that people have thought about and prayed to for generations so instead the supernatural is dominated by pop culture phenomenon. The Old Man of Space and Time is just another of those curiosities. Hypocrites aren't they?
Technically the Old man of space and time could be considered the new local deities of K city. And since their job is harder than the local deities of surrounding areas, since they are new. They are going full scorched earth. The story of the old man of space and time shows a guy get angry at people who are lost between worlds and then taking them to safety. so the old man of space and time could be considered rookie local guardian deities with terrible temper.

Interesting perspective. Remember the old men aren't stopping the other curiosities out of duty or responsibility. It's just part of the myth. They weren't stripping sensei because they're perverts. It's just instinct I swear! As for what are the makings of a guardian deity, I would think it has to at least be based on something more permanent that will live in memory for generations.

How many apparitions would be out there made only by human belief? Imagine the analog horror creatures... just waiting there in the dark of your room when you are not looking.

-I don't think so, maybe not officially. Considering the whole "on the run", "I might die soon", amonst other conficts that they may have...
Honestly if he is alive by the end of the series I would be very surprised
I think Ren surviving by the end of the series is not unlikely at all; in-fact.. just maybe even the Author's intention from the very start: Sumireko and Ren being together against their odds seems to be one of the main conflicts in the story, and is intended to have a resolution like any other.

Well, at the very least surviving or coming back.. even if he isn't "Ren" anymore.

Remember Ren isn't Oto's real brother, but the culmination of missing loved ones incarnated into a single being. From what I could gather.. his entire existence as "Ren" is only temporary to take care of Oto before he goes back to being a shapeless oddity without an identity. He ain't even "on the run" in a sense, as that voice from that bloody noose (whatever that thing is) already told him he has nowhere to go once the time comes to send Oto back to her world and real family.

So what I'm trying to say is that Adashino Ren (AKA the "Kamikakushi" oddity) is naturally bound to eventually vanish with his existence hinging on Oto clinging to the real Ren.. this is where Ogawa Sumireko comes in as basically his savior. Having never known the real Adashino Ren, the "fake" Ren is the real one to her.. or at the very least a real person with a meaningful existence and not just some meaningless fake.

So with this being a supernatural world like Dandadan where the Observer Effect dictates spiritual/supernatural existence.. Ren should probably be able to continue living as "Ren" as long as Sumireko lives. Proven to already work short-term in Ch 55 when Ren was literally 'bout to fade out of existence right then and there, but Sumireko being an author said "hell no" a badly-written fate and brought mans back with a kiss to the cheek. So in the end, Sumireko at this point is probably a second lifeline to his time as "Ren".

Story could go either way in the end, but I think at the very least that even if the Kamikakushi oddity dies as "Ren".. he'll still come back to Sumireki in a new incarnation. Or maybe simply just come back the same—as if nothing happened—like someone renewing their Costco® membership. Idk.

You might be right, Seh might be able to will him into existence (feels kinda weird to say), so yeah is very possible, although I do wonder what else is there on the plans for them, because I don't think it's that easy. But then again it depends on the author...

That might have already been fixed for all I know and I'm just blabbering here like an idiot... probably.

But in that case I don't know if they are dating officially, or not.
