Just finished the anime of this. If you want to read the manga after finishing the anime like me start at chapter 37. The manga is really good and just as enjoyable as the anime. Cant wait to continue reading this :)))

This goes out to those who seek an opinion. Here is mine. I read a lot of rom coms, it’s basically the only genre I like right now. I like a nice and sweet „boy meets girl“ or „girl meets boy“ story. This one is special. The drool part needs some time to getting used to. After that this manga is okay. Definitely read the author’s view on relationships and sex in Japan. It’s at the beginning of the manga. Everything made much more sense to me after reading that, especially the ending. However, I did not like the ending. To me, it felt like the characters changed their personality too much, just to make the ending work. The ending is okay, and for me a good ending for a romcom makes it or breaks it. Here it’s just meh.

Liked it quite a lot, what could just have been a borderline subject actually becomes kind of erotic and wholesome at the same time. It's a bit unbalanced (some arcs are better than others) but makes an enjoyable read and re-read. Mangadex lacks the last chapters (and that's too bad since they are very good) so that may be why many people were wondering about the ending. They can be found elsewhere but it could be nice to add them to Mangadex. Thanks to the translators, I've bought the whole series but read it here first.

Yeah, ao the ending was made like this because of the 10 year gap between the beginning and the end of it: the author changed his mind about the whole thing by the end and that's why it is the way it is.

I'm fine with that, didn't expect anything extraordinary since I jumped to the last arcs and watched the anime a long time ago. So my experience is different.

The ending is fine enough. Its not great, although everything else is there to make it good. 8/10 story.

It's definitely not a romcom for everyone.

Although the first chapters talk about sex immediately, technically nothing ever happens, not even a kiss. But it's obvious to me that it is intended, as side characters do have, for japanese standards at least, a normal progression in their relationships. One of them even kisses the girl that just told him she liked him, as a reply. The main characters' relationship is an intentional form of classic romance where what is in reach is never attained, an eternal tease woven with constant eroticism through dreams and drool, and quite physical at times too (Urabe being almost naked many times and even seen completely naked once too).
My real problem with this is the timeline. Not only does it make it extremely weird for a relationship to be THAT slow - Tsubaki even mentioning at some point that he's a "boy at that age after all", but seeing that many summers fly feel like they're eternal highschoolers or some shit. No mention of the future or advancing through the years whatsoever, they only care about their uniform change and seeing cute girls in light clothes in the summer, wtf?

It could have gone in a completely different way and I kind of hoped starting it that it was going to be more mature than the average romcom, so I was a bit disappointed about that but not surprised. I did enjoy it reading to the end however and certainly don't regret it. Good characters overall and good art.
