I wasn't expecting that curve ball from Yaichi 😂
But I can safely say my initial assumption that Vanitas could potentially be a myther scientist is solidifying! I was on the fence if he was a scientist or something else—since in the first chapter, it was mentioned that 'he didn't feel human' and I was waiting to see what he actually was. To have the whole government on your toes and being identified as an actual threat... Just how far does his influence go? Also, I did notice that in chapter 6, the woman wasn't wearing a Myther on their first encounter. But in this chapter, she's already wearing one.
For someone who seemed so sure of herself—perhaps she, too, couldn't resist the charm of tapping into her ideal self 👀 And noting that her Myther doesn't have an accessory (which from the scenes we have of the IDEVA myther distribution, their legally distributed mythers always come decorated with an accessory) I'm pretty sure it's a definitive sign that she's already one of Vanitas's pawns just like the Doctor in chapter 9 [I'm just spitfiring my thoughts because no one besides me reads Myther in my circle 😂]
REGARDLESS, I LOVE how we wrapped up with Kana and Chihiro in the previous chapters! It felt like a filler the first time, but I knew it would be too important to pass it off as such if she was given this much focus after I was re-reading the previous chapters to formulate my thoughts. And finally, it's coming to a head here with Yaichi's conversation with Kyo: The Master is waking up.
So far, we've had negative encounters with the Myther crimes (outside of our main cast) in the situations we've been presented. The ones who fully gave up their autonomy to their IFs in chapter 1, 2 and chapter 10 but we had Chihiro and Kana as the outlier. Ones who lived in perfect harmony like two peads in a pod. A master and an IF in agreement and co-habitation. It looks like Yaichi is the same way based on the latest conversation, and Kyo may be on that route to—or should I say, in a similar situation but ultimately heading into a different direction. Perhaps it's like what Baskerville said in their past comments that Kyo could become like Vani?
Honeslty, with the initial directions we're going, I've been thinking if Kyo was going to become an anti-hero with the current details we have. I can scrap that idea now, but who our antagonist actually is— is yet to be seen. But to say we have an antagonist feels like a cop out when most of our questions/conflicts feel like they're on such an existencial level that in the end: their enemies is themselves.
Regardless, I'm so excited to see how everything will turn out! It's been so long since I've been this invested in a series since slow pacing tends to be an issue with me but I'm glad Myther's story telling has so far been very intentional and kept the perfect pacing. I started reading this because of Vanitas but now I'm still staying for the plot!
Thank you so much for your hard work as usual! Looking forward to the next few chapters whenever you're planning to release them as we've fully caught up to the current releases now 🥰
