@Lan you just said what i said in a roundabout way. he is just an average dude while his friends are cheats... i do understand what you meant but he isn't really Weak but only fundamentally lower in success rate in terms growth. because if you consider him weak then what do you call those prodigious people in front of him that are also hard working even it they have a twisted way of growing? like the guy with the fire sword which was his artefact and he trained with it for a long time while the mc just used it's abilities like it's nothing? and like i said, the mc really has a twisted sense of mentality because he is always around with cheat like individuals since his childhood days and adventures, that he deems some hard quests to be easy for your regular C and D rank adventurers (and by no means that those are weak like how we compare those broken AF cheat MCs from other isekai genres).

@undead028 nah i already read the wn, Cry is legit weak without hidden ability or actually strong but seems weak since people around him is strong, in this manga world people can be strong by absorb mana from treasure house , the higher rank treasure house the stronger mana you get and Cry albeit already enter most dangerous treasure house

what make him famous and feared is nickname thousand trial bassically all his action always followed by god of death and god of bad luck, like example one time he ask their guild member to going to picnic seeing flower, when they ready to go and didnt bring any weapon cry ask them to bring weapon since he afraid of stray mosnter what happen is a treasure house is born in place their guild going to picnic a extremly rare occurance for treasure house to be born there also other example but each time there always bad luck and disaster that no wonder you will killed in process and Cry not even know about it before hand

Alright like, there is an artifact later on that unlocks someone's potential. It gave a literal little girl the ability to fight on par with mid rank Hunters, but like when Cry tried it on it was disappointed and did not work because Cry was so weak. To me Cry's talent is Relic use and well money, but even that can't beat a top rank Hunter. Technically if Cry was prepared with all his Relics charged he could be a danger but...

as for change you mean bettwen LN and WN ? Dunno since i couldnot found any LN for this and no eng publisher who take it so only Wzn available but i doubt it deviated to much from WN, also Slime tensei only exception that have to many changed event in each media adaptation thought manga kinda follow LN albeit some small event got changed
