And, yeah, I'm aware in this particular case the word did already exist, but I believe it originally referred to porn specifically. Whereas, today it doesn't always involve actual porn, and it's commonly used to insult someone.

You're right about that definition. But, the word gooning has also been used on the internet for about a couple decades now.
