Yeah, I'm 99% certain of it as well. These terms 'alpha, omega, heat'. The setting is most likely a fictional world where people go into heat where they become like savage animals looking to dominate and be dominated on specific cycles. She got unlucky because he was in heat and outside so he rapes her.

If I had to guess, this is the author trying to somehow tell 'the other side of the story ' in how rapists, pedos and so forth have 'uncontrollable urges' like a medical condition. Very sketchy idea....
