for everyone whos wondering, i think shang feng has those parenting books because he calls nan hao his son (idk why though... but he called him his son when they first became friends in the flashback chapters)

as for why, it's like in some regions where you have the whole "call uncle" shtick, basically "i'm your dad" is a way to flex on someone and "assert dominance" to use some older terminology
chinese society is still pro-elderly (esp in more rural areas) so between guys it's the whole "i'm your fucking dad, listen to me or i'll beat yo ass" (tho the beatings are largely gone now in actual families)
