It wasn't mentioned if this was a sequel or prequel to black label, but we assumed it was a prequel because the first chapter shows Kaoru with his leg broken.
It's possible also that every one of these chapters takes place in a different time.
I think we should wait for more chapters to know better!

Er, this was super obviously set between the original and black label though, even just this far in? Yes, it showed the guy from black label... as someone that Kaoru doesn't even know yet.
