The bread is definitely sus, such fluffy perfect bread definitely needs good fine flour and leavening agents, stuff thats prolly hard to get in the Aussie outback lol

The bread isn't fluffy or perfect. In chapter 7 cutting it makes a rough sawing sound, and when Ryouta tried eating it without dipping it in the soup he found it aromatic but hard and tasteless.

The first thing I thought when he said something like 'bread like that can only be made in an oven' was "what about damper?" which goes well with the Aussie outback comment. And you can easily make it 'clean' if you wrap it in something instead of just cooking it directly in the hot ashes. It can keep for days too, but will dry out and go hard.

I do think the pristine look of the bread here is a little bit artistic license, but it could also be cooked in a camp oven (basically a pot with a lid that you bury in coals).

WTF is damper?!

Yeah, I'd been working under the assumption that the pot was being used like an older style of dutch oven to bake bread. The kind where you can use the flat rimmed lid to put coals on for more even heating. You would of course already know that because you watch Cowboy Kent and therefor you are a man with a good upbringing and excellent taste.
