Honestly I have to give respect to Saiga for acknowledging and respecting their boundaries and not being a home wrecker

Yeah, I was waiting for a follow up with her to see what route the story would take. That she doesn't want to butt in and instead has a full-page cute pout when she actually realizes that he loves his girlfriend while saying to herself that, well, she knew that already, is a good way to go. These are stray thoughts, and the person she's imagining isn't the person he is. She's getting flustered about Hijiri "PUSSY DESTROYER" Kiyomi, not any sort of real guy, and especially not our ACTUAL male lead here.

It's another character turn in this manga that reminds me that the author's smart. They've consistently made turns to keep their characters likable, even when they're strange. There's been a couple stumbles: chapter 13 and 16 come to mind for me. 13 should've been from Nanjou's perspective and 16 was wasted time and ruined by hilariously huge black bars. But even then, we learned some things. 13 establishing that Kiyomi isn't, like, a genius, and might actually be kinda dumb was a good move. We expected him to be smart, but he isn't, and is honestly probably too distracted with games and his new girlfriend. Nanjou's got better grades than him, a reminder that she's not just a stereotype. She's not a secret genius either, just a normal student, so there's not a wild swing into another stereotype there.

What I hope is that Saiga and Nanjou meet and start to get along. Saiga would be an interesting contrast, although in a direction we may not need. But I think they'd be fun together. Just keep her away from the actual fuck machine that is Kiyomi's friend because his girlfriend would absolutely propose a 3some, and this manga can't handle people getting upset about NTR here.
