The double standards exist because men and women are different, and people will view men and women as different. That doesn't change what the act is, of course, but we shouldn't burden ourselves griping over invincible things like said double standards.

Besides, the scenarios of both this series and the main series are tightly written with the sexes in mind-- flip the sexes, and even retain the mutual love of the couples, and the scenarios become more awkward.

There's room for Takase to commit boundary transgressions (that aren't actually boundary transgressions because either of these two are at all times prepared to let the other drag them into a dark alleyway and perform nefarious deeds upon them) that we can still laugh at... it's just that said room is never, ever going to encompass "dry humping Mikoto while she's asleep".
