There is a serialized version of this story called "Mikoto-Chan doesn't want to be hated" here on MangaDex that follows a tighter story, and it shows that she was a victim of an acid attack in middle school by bullies. It might also be in this version as well but I don't know what chapter.

I thought this was a comedy manga spinoff (her depressive-oyakodon mom).
And didn't read the drama original becuase it was depressing.

Welp. Time to hit the booze again. Here's the chapter. People suck.

I think the main series is still mostly comedy, but it does get heavy at a few points. ... Is "dramedy" still a word people use?

I mean, it is kinda funny, and it's good that she has a sense of humor about it. Everytime we get to see her eye, I wonder how much, if any, sight she has left. I doubt it's much, considering the clouding, 3rd degree eyelid scarring, and fixed pupil. It's probably none though, mostly because I'm sure the author likely hasn't put as much thought into it as some autist across the globe. I could yap on about acids vs bases, chemical burn healing, and the blindness spectrum itself but I'm all ready rambling into the void as is.

technically this is the original, and the other is more of an expanded and more continuous retelling, while this continues since the author likes to make single page gag comics on twitter. the other one's also still definitely exactly as much a comedy as this version.
