yep yep, because in the real world, a worker actually learns sh!t about their industry while working on it (like working in a hospital you actually learn how gross it gets hahaha), not from social media, ffs the friend knew more about the adventures than her that works next to them, like I could get if she said something like "all the other receptionist said the same thing" in that case it would make sense as it would be more close to a full cultural vision of the problems with the work, like how people sometimes look down on blue collar workers, and they actually make some great money, as some of them the cost to fix some stuff is pretty much the same as the tools necessary to fix the stuff (electric stuff, plumbing, construction, etc) and well, we also can't have a normal life without their help from time to time.

If anything, I could see him being nicer to her here, than to his ex and the shitty guy. Yes, she blacklisted him, and it was only the circumstances of who he was and the fact he was gonna quit anyway that meant it wasn't life-ending.
I also don't see how he could be meaner to her than she was to herself, there. Even if it was "just" an apology, dogeza for the Japanese is a complete showing of one's inferiority toward the wronged party, so even in this fantasy setting, that carries weight all on its own.

And...it helps no one for him to just persecute her. As he said, if he had been some random low-level nobody, it would have been horrific for him; but ultimately, he wasn't hurt by her actions, and he also didn't really accept her apology, beyond the feelings she had behind it - he told her to carry it with her for forever as a reminder to be a better person; if she listens, then that's net good being done in the world. And, she and her friend will be getting a front-row seat to the life of those people she'd previously looked down on, which is an avenue toward building empathy and perspective, and might make her a better person later on.

I do think the other two antagonistic individuals deserve less grace, but I also don't even know what he'd have to do for them to be served their own karma - the simple consequences of their actions already seem to be closing in on them, so. They've shown (thus far) less capacity for change, insofar as the manga's shown. I suppose we'll see, though.

Something tells me when he was starting out, even back then when she was NICE she still wanted to keep her options open and if not for the Receptionists MEDDLING she'd have likely not shot herself in the foot

Basically for Ex, the start is from her Job, something she desired working at for so long! Funny thing is, as she was IGNORANT to the QUALITY of places MC brought her to, so TOO was she ignorant to the fact MC was kind of the reason she GOT THAT JOB IN THE FIRST PLACE! The Owner wanted to make a connection with him because they were aware of who he really was! So once they discovered what happened do to her antics and she was WORKING for them (Pointless now since she went from a "connection to Zero" to now "Someone who made an ENEMY of the Legend for no good reason!") So was quick to "Fire and Blacklist her from the Business!" (Doesn't THAT look familiar, technically she didn't do anything WRONG per say, but her actions towards a client even if Ex is in the same vein of a "Karen beating someone near to death or acting racists PUBLICALLY while wearing her work clothes!" At first she is about as shocked as her Ex was when she pulled what she did so "yeah for some karma" but since she married the asshole, or close to, she basically decided she'll make the "SAHW" thing work

His insults and snips at her "uselessness and being a spendthrift" (because remember he still has a superiority complex towards those he views as LOWELY to him, and that includes HER because he's also still feeling RESENTMENT as said for his idiocy back in Chapter 1 that he's blaming on BOTH girls and not at ALL acknowledging his fault in it other then "he wouldn't have acted as he did or even DATED the Ex if he had known who MC was, though as said, the story COUNTS on her being such a TERRIBLE GF, "trying to paint HIM/MC as the terrible BF even though she's noting ALOT of her bad self-centered behavior", it's chalked up to her parents treating her like a Princess, something they attribute to her BAD DECISION regarding her treatment of MC hence they do have remorse when they see her near ruin her own life making hasty short sighted choices because she's seeing the IMMEDIATE and "SHINE" and not "everything behind the curtain!") causes her to get DESPERATE to make some additional money

Basically there is a means to do some MINOR work without a License in the entry level of the dungeon as long as one stays in large groups, but because of lack of MAJOR oversight.....well it's also a breeding ground for ACTUAL Criminal Adventurers to target "hapless fools" like the Ex who make the mistake of NOT doing this with a trusted group as doing it with Rando's is a recipe for trouble, but she's underestimating the dangers because well she USE to admire adventurers in school, it's how she approached MC in the first place that lead to their relationship, but it became ALL TAKE on her end where he did everything to satisfy her, but her "MISTAKING her Immaturity for Maturity", It mostly just ended up looking like "friends or better acquaintances more then lovers" on her end as you know her DISTANCE with MC even before this and her starting her career made her start to forget that admiration, especially when the Receptionist and later Assface put the anti shit into her head that she started to think she was "too good for MC" and deserved a "REAL MAN!" Hence her actions (It's mostly showing how she doesn't THINK before she acts so SURE of herself, and remember she had ISSUES noting IMPORTANT DETAILS after all! Like never ONCE visiting MC home, or telling him to take her to OTHER PLACES, or getting the places he WAS taking her were places she PREVIOUSLY said she liked and WERE top tier locations someone like her NORMALLY wouldn't get into to if she paid attention, but guessing Assface took her to FANCY LOOKING places that she ASSUMED it showed his quality, since she assumed a "BBQ" place is OBVIOUSLY low working class and of course not taking how DANGEROUS even the "SAFE" parts are...she really isn't very smart now is she!)

This gets her PREYED ON by a Trio. Two guys, one woman, and the woman is a NASTY one, a girl who USE to be BULLIED by flashy girls like EX back in school and since her "Friends" love to RAPE any females they prey on before they kill them to make it look like "they slipped up and a monster got them" she LOVES watching THAT specifically for girls like Ex, hell it's treated VERY seriously and luckly she avoids the rape, but gets caught in Monster Stampede and well would have died if MC hadn't been there for something else unrelated to her, finding her DYING was by PURE coincidence and LUCK on her end

Basically she is BADLY scar-ed in the face, and Assface, well he takes that moment to insult her at the Hospital RIGHT as she woke up from her coma, air out the dirty laundry and while she's been TRYING to make it work, he's been STEWING in resentment at her and anything he could make up in his head on how NONE of this is his fault! Even tells her that her FACE was the only "REDEEMABLE" thing about her and the only reason he BOTHERED dating her to "Stealing her" when the Receptionist "Set them up" and now that she doesn't have THAT, he's DONE! She doesn't resist and it's a CRUEL wake up call she made the WRONG choice in deserting and mistreating MC as she did, replacing hiim again "with someone she only knew for a SHORT TIME" along with being a TERRIBLE GF! Best part, MC left an EXPENSIVE potion for her that would cure her face. A last "gesture" of good will from him, but otherwise something "he might have done if it had been someone ELSE in her position" that's how she sees it because after what she pulled, she has no right to even be EXPECTING goodwill from an ex she did DIRTY in the past!

She divorces, goes back to her parents, cries a little then becomes an Adventurer SERIOUSLY! Basically it's around this time she REMEMBERS her school years and PREVIOUS admiration for MC and his profession. Sees it as a "POSER" who was interested in MC because he was "doing something she was CURIOUS about" then actually getting to KNOW HIM (the classic "remember his good traits once she finally WOKE UP from the Cheaters Fog when cheaters try to JUSTIFY their betrayal of their partner by any means, even MAKING UP SHIT to lower the GUILT of betrayal!) and she does pretty good. Parents dislike her getting into it because well "she just divorced, was depressed, and doing a job they didn't like!" They didn't hate it with the BAD PRESS to Adventurers, just the "death rate" it's why as much as they were DISAPPOINTED with her treatment and break up out of the blue and Infidelity on MC! They still felt a "office worker" was a far better partner then someone who MIGHT die any day in such a "dangerous profession!" (Though she got something WORSE then possibly being a Widow, getting betrayed, cheated on and DUMPED, yeah forgot to mention he brought up his AFFAIR PARTNER when he was dressing her down to! It's another reason other then being exhausted that she didn't fight back, she was "only getting what she put MC through!" Basically she finally acknowledged she "made a critical mistake" in judging assface compared to MC, throwing away a GOOD loyal man for a man who WILLINGLY went into an AFFAIR with her, she was so STUPID to think that would work out for her!)

She later is VERY disappointed with Assface when he commits a major crime she's brought in to deal with on his "Affair Partner" in the future, well EX as I will explain in HIS SPOILERS Next! More disappointed FURTHER on how she EVER saw anything REDEEMABLE or BETTER then MC in him! Basically it's being a girl who fell for Playboy's and then becoming a woman and seeing JUST how pathetic they are.....and how pathetic your YOUNGER self was for falling for such OBVIOUS bullshit!

Spoiler: Assface AKA the Other Guy she left MC for (Also Long)

Yeah for him, when he got transferred, it was a dead end position, but he is warned by a senior there to "keep his head down" as he's still YOUNG, eventually if he does his job, causes NO trouble and keep his head down. His past deeds and the Anger at him should be forgotten enough that he could "work his way out of here in a decade at most!" Of course moron DOESN'T take the advice OR learn his lesson about going for "other men's women!"

See he starts getting involved with a Married Female Coworker and falls for the "oh she'll leave her husband if I leave my Wife" thing as time passes! Thing is AFTER he deserted the Ex at the Hospital to meet up with the woman, she CRUELY pulled the rug from under him! Namely she HATED his guts and only got involved with him and "listened" to his WOES out of BOREDOM! He's not the first guy she "played with" leading them on and NOT making promises that THEY believe they made with her. She even brings up how they and he "never asked WHO her husband was" and REVEAL its the "FUCKING GUILDMASTER OF THAT BRANCH!" The two have a cold hostile marriage that is more POLITICAL as he got the position of Guildmaster because of her parents, they don't LIKE each other and he's mostly DEALING with her messes! Meaning the idiot learns the hard way like the "other men" that he "presses charges on the moron for cheating with his wife" (Those Compensation for inflidility laws over there, you CAN sue your partner AND their lover if infilidility is exposed and proven! Only applies to MARRIED individuals, but you get the idea! Their not DIVORCING, she gets a KICK out of him having to clean up her messes! He gets disowned by his family and ends up homeless, he gets a cameo in a few chapters as a DRUNKEN homeless man shouting his HATRED for Adventurers (cause he's now blaming MC for his fall from grace, despite the fact he was ALREADY punished for what he did to MC, and MC gave him MERCY, as that senior said, if he had kept his head down, he'd be able to make a comeback in a few years and get transferred out, so yeah, MC and the guild WERE being nice in his punishment, but he squandered it by his own hand! Unlike the other two, HE is the only one that NEVER repents, changes or gets better!

And as I said in the end of the Ex's SPOILERS, his last appearance was trying to kill that Co-worker, basically shit happens and Japan goes into the TOILET economy and popularity wise because the Anti-Adventurer Elements in the Government win power and try to REVERESE all the advances made so far (the banning of anything Monster related, without first SEEING if it IS a good idea to go back to REGULAR Electricity and Fossel fuel that they abandoned after the Energy from Monsters was discovered, cure them going to SHIT as those systems were HEAVILY outdated by the time they were decommishioned, so lets say "people who got ELECTRICITY for SUPER LOW RATES now had INFLATED numbers because they were still functioning like their using the NEW energy that the old energy couldn't keep up with! Basically the Co-worker's family fell to ruin and without their connections, her husband DIVORCED her! Plus the guild being shut down means she was out of a job! It was the kindness of strangers that she survived and was even ready to change her old bad ways! But the Asshole witnessing this an still baring a grudge ends up badly attacking her and well, ends kind of sad! Hence as a I said, the Ex is more horrified that she didn't "see just how much of a SUPER POS he was" cursing the little idiot girl she was who cheated on someone who was actually "OUT OF HER LEAGUE" for someone like THAT!

If it hadn't been MC in that scenario, but literally anyone else, she would've essentially maliciously ended that person's life over some petty pride, usually adventurers don't have anything else to fall back onto, if they end up losing their job especially in some low ranked dungeon they were in, in that setting you usually would see that person then turn to crime with what little ability they have.

Don't think that qualifies as merely something "stupid", also in terms of the government taking damage.. that's one of the things that makes what those two did even more unrealistic in terms of "consequences" they literally damaged the country with what they did, if you think about everyone making use of those special stones common folk as well and she and that guy basically blacklisted the only strategic Warhead their country had looking at it different. 😐

The problem wasn't just social media. Actual media also looked down on adventurers in Japan. While the rest of the world hailed adventurers as heroes Japan was behind the times and didnt see them as such, which is very typical of Japan. We're going to see a bit more of this going forward.

Also regarding Shizuku she was already going to quit her job and was going to look at a new one due to the sexual and power harassment she kept receiving at work. Seeing the opportunity to help her friend grow as a person while also finding a way out for herself she decided to become an adventure. She really is too good of a person considering when the two were bragging about what they did to MC she told herself to cut off from them for their toxic behavior yet decided to go back on that when she saw how desperate her friend was trying to contact her out of concern. A last "gesture" of good will from him, but otherwise something "he might have done if it had been someone ELSE in her position" that's how she sees it because after what she pulled, she has no right to even be EXPECTING goodwill from an ex she did DIRTY in the past!

She divorces, goes back to her parents, cries a little then becomes an Adventurer SERIOUSLY! Basically it's around this time she REMEMBERS her school years and PREVIOUS admiration for MC and his profession. Sees it as a "POSER" who was interested in MC because he was "doing something she was CURIOUS about" then actually getting to KNOW HIM (the classic "remember his good traits once she finally WOKE UP from the Cheaters Fog when cheaters try to JUSTIFY their betrayal of their partner by any means, even MAKING UP SHIT to lower the GUILT of betrayal!) and she does pretty good. Parents dislike her getting into it because well "she just divorced, was depressed, and doing a job they didn't like!" They didn't hate it with the BAD PRESS to Adventurers, just the "death rate" it's why as much as they were DISAPPOINTED with her treatment and break up out of the blue and Infidelity on MC! They still felt a "office worker" was a far better partner then someone who MIGHT die any day in such a "dangerous profession!" (Though she got something WORSE then possibly being a Widow, getting betrayed, cheated on and DUMPED, yeah forgot to mention he brought up his AFFAIR PARTNER when he was dressing her down to! It's another reason other then being exhausted that she didn't fight back, she was "only getting what she put MC through!" Basically she finally acknowledged she "made a critical mistake" in judging assface compared to MC, throwing away a GOOD loyal man for a man who WILLINGLY went into an AFFAIR with her, she was so STUPID to think that would work out for her!)

She later is VERY disappointed with Assface when he commits a major crime she's brought in to deal with on his "Affair Partner" in the future, well EX as I will explain in HIS SPOILERS Next! More disappointed FURTHER on how she EVER saw anything REDEEMABLE or BETTER then MC in him! Basically it's being a girl who fell for Playboy's and then becoming a woman and seeing JUST how pathetic they are.....and how pathetic your YOUNGER self was for falling for such OBVIOUS bullshit!

Yeah for him, when he got transferred, it was a dead end position, but he is warned by a senior there to "keep his head down" as he's still YOUNG, eventually if he does his job, causes NO trouble and keep his head down. His past deeds and the Anger at him should be forgotten enough that he could "work his way out of here in a decade at most!" Of course moron DOESN'T take the advice OR learn his lesson about going for "other men's women!"

See he starts getting involved with a Married Female Coworker and falls for the "oh she'll leave her husband if I leave my Wife" thing as time passes! Thing is AFTER he deserted the Ex at the Hospital to meet up with the woman, she CRUELY pulled the rug from under him! Namely she HATED his guts and only got involved with him and "listened" to his WOES out of BOREDOM! He's not the first guy she "played with" leading them on and NOT making promises that THEY believe they made with her. She even brings up how they and he "never asked WHO her husband was" and REVEAL its the "FUCKING GUILDMASTER OF THAT BRANCH!" The two have a cold hostile marriage that is more POLITICAL as he got the position of Guildmaster because of her parents, they don't LIKE each other and he's mostly DEALING with her messes! Meaning the idiot learns the hard way like the "other men" that he "presses charges on the moron for cheating with his wife" (Those Compensation for inflidility laws over there, you CAN sue your partner AND their lover if infilidility is exposed and proven! Only applies to MARRIED individuals, but you get the idea! Their not DIVORCING, she gets a KICK out of him having to clean up her messes! So suffice to say, the moron is SUED for alot of money AND legitimately FIRED! The senior before even REMINDS the idiot again "he warned him to keep his head down!"

He gets disowned by his family and ends up homeless, he gets a cameo in a few chapters as a DRUNKEN homeless man shouting his HATRED for Adventurers (cause he's now blaming MC for his fall from grace, despite the fact he was ALREADY punished for what he did to MC, and MC gave him MERCY, as that senior said, if he had kept his head down, he'd be able to make a comeback in a few years and get transferred out, so yeah, MC and the guild WERE being nice in his punishment, but he squandered it by his own hand! Unlike the other two, HE is the only one that NEVER repents, changes or gets better!

And as I said in the end of the Ex's SPOILERS, his last appearance was trying to kill that Co-worker, basically shit happens and Japan goes into the TOILET economy and popularity wise because the Anti-Adventurer Elements in the Government win power and try to REVERESE all the advances made so far (the banning of anything Monster related, without first SEEING if it IS a good idea to go back to REGULAR Electricity and Fossel fuel that they abandoned after the Energy from Monsters was discovered, cure them going to SHIT as those systems were HEAVILY outdated by the time they were decommishioned, so lets say "people who got ELECTRICITY for SUPER LOW RATES now had INFLATED numbers because they were still functioning like their using the NEW energy that the old energy couldn't keep up with! Basically the Co-worker's family fell to ruin and without their connections, her husband DIVORCED her! Plus the guild being shut down means she was out of a job! It was the kindness of strangers that she survived and was even ready to change her old bad ways! But the Asshole witnessing this an still baring a grudge ends up badly attacking her and well, ends kind of sad! Hence as a I said, the Ex is more horrified that she didn't "see just how much of a SUPER POS he was" cursing the little idiot girl she was who cheated on someone who was actually "OUT OF HER LEAGUE" for someone like THAT!

If it hadn't been MC in that scenario, but literally anyone else, she would've essentially maliciously ended that person's life over some petty pride, usually adventurers don't have anything else to fall back onto, if they end up losing their job especially in some low ranked dungeon they were in, in that setting you usually would see that person then turn to crime with what little ability they have.

Don't think that qualifies as merely something "stupid", also in terms of the government taking damage.. that's one of the things that makes what those two did even more unrealistic in terms of "consequences" they literally damaged the country with what they did, if you think about everyone making use of those special stones common folk as well and she and that guy basically blacklisted the only strategic Warhead their country had looking at it different. 😐

Of course I know that if the blacklisted person ended up suffering, I wanted her to suffer even more. But that's a what if talk.

In this particular story, her particular action barely affects MC other than the hurtful things she said. So, I'm not sure what else is MC supposed to do other than rejecting her apology.
And the guild already fired her and probably blacklisted her from other jobs.

What else do you want to happen to her?

Did the author try to justify her awful behaviors by using "but I did that for his sake" excuse? Really?

She's not too smart and didn't consider adventuring a proper job. Many of the worst deeds in human history have been done with the best of intentions (at least in the culprit's mind).

First. She's a guild receptionist. Working with adventures and support them are in her job descriptions. Why did she take this job with she hate adventurers that much? That makes no sense.

It's pretty safe to deduce it's a low-tier job with few requirements and even less education needed. Considering adventuring itself is very risky to the point of lethality, it would attract the rough types aplenty. People who love violence could become adventurers instead of criminals. Such people might not always treat receptionists that gently either.

Also. The attitude toward MC when she blacklisted him is anything but a "good will". Did the author think we are idiot?

This writing is getting worse and worse. I'm impressed someone wrote this and it even got published.

This doesn't surprise me at all, after all the trash isekai. Fortunately (or unfortunately, however you judge it), someone once explained in a comment why there are so much trash fantasy: there are lots of mobile apps for light novels and manga, and they need a certain amount of new chapters released every month to fulfill their "promise" to the customers. So, they don't really do any screening, forget about editing, and they just keep publishing new series to fill in the numbers. Quality doesn't matter at all, as long as they get those chapters. New series are good to draw in curious readers.

There wasn't really any of that "it's for your sake" apparent when she blacklisted him. That was all malice at someone she thought wasn't good enough for her friend. I guess she's now going off somewhere to be an adventure with no experience so that means she's gonna die, right? Might be a bit too severe a punishment.
