Well, that’s one way of shutting them down with(EDIT)out horrific casualties. Though with those parents, that possibility is still open.
To name a few: crippling mental problems, crippling existential crises, ennui, political stupidity, general stupidity, non-general stupidity, the common cold, love, human greed, corporate greed, sectarian strife.
Shiii, as a brokie, I’m going to have to refute! Most if not all my problems could be solved with money! My mind would be great without bills, my health would put gurus to shame, stupidity would not be tolerated, and even my own would be curbed with enough money. If love comes up, I’ll pull a Coming to America or something. Except with a generous prenup. Everything else can miss me on my private (non epstein) island.

Why even bother trying to give them money? Clearly she was disowned and they didn't have the ability to actually sell her given they tried guilting her. He could have just ripped up the contract and said if they wanted anyone let it be her parents and lead Karen away or get the authorities involved using either his connections or the fact that it is an adventurer v. random citizens.
In WN actually show Karen actually signature was on that contract so she actually responsible for that debt also ...

For sure, this reads like a lame manga change that doesnt make MC seem any cooler or likeable.
Manga ver want cut story short until it looks very lame on Karen and MC side

we are also yet again reminded that the dungeon association or whatnot still havent reissued our guy a license after figuring out they deleted it
He wants to retire anyways because his ex-gf hate adventure...and he pretty much have wealth that he can live forever without work anymore

Fancy reunion we have here. With unreasonable parents of Karen whom trying to sell their daughter to yakuzas to settle their debt. Fortunately, Harukaze is there just in time to save the situation.

I really rather dislike that he just threw money at the problem instead of asserting that Karen wasn't responsible for her parent's debts. I also really dislike that he didn't confirm anything about the payment so if they really wanted to (as they implied) they can just claim the debt still hadn't been paid as no papers were signed at the time of payment.
Doesn't solve the question about the legitimacy of the whole things and any problem related to it. I bet these people operate on different level that money is just a scare tactic to them. Seems like they will be persistent kind about it no matter the debt.
Also if they move as a service serving the client then until the client is taken down or run dry, it will not solve all the problem at hand. The client can just print out more money or they can just make arbitrary interest on the debt so they can't get away with things.
Also, the parent is still there, living and breathing like any other human. They might be able to get something out of them as them are the only sensible connection left to hook the target.

I also hate that "throw money, problem solved" solution like they pretend it is a power moves, it doesn't solve the problem, it's just make the other party the profit of deals. It's just a loss for the party targeted, and those dumbfuck parent arent getting their justice right, the debtor even get their money back with added interest (which i guess really bloated).

tldr : this is likely not money problem, this is people problem that need to be severed to the root of it
This played out differently in the novel. They uses a legal loophole that since she was a minor, the parents use her name as the lender and use their status as her guardian to sign the contract(at least that works in this fantasy world, I don't know nor care if it works in real life). She also "solved the problem herself", rather than relying on her masters for everything. She turned to her master to ask a loan for the debt amount with an indefinite amount of time of repayment. Her master is proud for her to take the stance for herself, though she promised to repaid him, he doesn't expect anything.

I'm not sure this is spoiler, since it happened in the same chapter. Basically showing the future where they loan more money again from the Yakuza. When the payment is due, they tried to play the same card of "selling their daughter" again, but the Yakuza revealed that since she was a minor, they could do it the first time, but once she is an adult, she is out of their hand. They are sold to prostitution that targetted foreigner in the end, since they are too old, but old asian still looks younger to them.

i dont remember but couldnt he just restart again at the lowest rank or some shit

They offered to reinstate him several time, but since he has been trying to retire for some times, he refuses. Yes, his main reason for trying to retire was for his ex-fiance, but he doesn't have any plan to comeback anytime soon.

Sure, go prepare a plan to mess with the guy who was the Almighty Leader of a Guild whose weakest members treat "Nightmare Difficulty FromSoftware Endgame Bosses" like "Basic Moves Tutorial Enemy"... I'm sure it won't end HORRIBLY WRONG for you lol

So literal WORKERS AND EMPLOYEES don't know who their number one is, but some random underground shaddy dudes know who our MC is?.... Really?

A sentence from those Yakuza guys feels like this "debt" isn't settled yet.

Could lead to them backing off since they know who is around the girl. Or they do not care about the MC cuz he is not licensed hence them thinking that all of his accomplishments are nothing but sham and still try to abduct the girl which will turn into the Yakuza to be "disassembled".

...actually smart Villains, well one of them. Take the money when they have the chance and leave. Considering one guy recognized the MC he probably was aware how bad this could have gone for them.
Screw the Parents though with a rusty chainsaw.

It do makes "some" sense. It seems the workers look down on Adventurers but "criminals" would need to know which guy can turn them into mush when they try funny stuff so they do more research. Even then only one of them recognized him.

... though only "some" as I said and only in the context of the established story. Frankly the guy should have been a celebrity so his face would have been plastered everywhere. They should recognize him on the friggin' streets. It's frankly hard to believe.

Wow, this chapter really surprised me.

First, I didn't expect the parents to show their true face right there and then. I thought she would go back with them first, then they sold her, then MC saved her.

Second, I thought the debt collector would cause more scenes. It's unexpected that they were chill because they knew about MC.

up next, proposal??:meguu:
I honestly don't see anything romantic between them. I was really confused when his ex guild members talked about their intimacy.

To me, they're genuinely looks like a master and disciple.

I'm not gonna begrudge him for throwing the cash at them and saying scram, and I understand not wanting to do anything in front of her, but I'm pretty sure at least the parents if not all 4 should be reported for attempted human trafficking.

Now that I think about it though, unless he either recorded the conversation, or that contract he took spells out the deal and not just the amount the parents owed, it would be his word against theirs, and then Karen might be forced to testify.

On the other hand, he probably has enough connections that he could see them put away without a trial or some shit if he really wanted.
