I.. didn't think to suspect Mirror-san to get into Koma's dark side. I like it when the story gets there...

We're gonna get Koma's story eventually, right? Or did we already? I can't remember. Time for a re-read, I guess.

We knew that Koma and Shishimaru's original shrine were demolished. Maybe she was corrupted because of that.

Hey, this one had actual adventure feel, as opposed to slice of life of most chapters.
P.S. Take that, stories that think you need a villain to fantasy story to be compelling :p
@miyako19 Aren't deities supposed to have both blessing and curse side as part of the course? That and komainu pair supposed to represent different if not opposite parts of things?

Well the short Monk doesn't want to paint Kurona because her owner is still alive, the guy only paint Ayakashi who had lost their homes. Maybe that is why Kurona doesn't have a dark side.

@kwendy - I don't think shinto kami are supposed to normally have a dark side, but they're often depicted as vulnerable to corruption.

@flannan Well, I was putting on hold research of japanese myths for a while, but wasn't it something like - when you pray for harvest - "bless us with abundant harvest; please don't scorch our fields" and if you pray for wealth "grant me fortune - please don't get me broke" - kinda feel? Also omikuji dealing with both blessing and curses at part of the course?
Ah, and curses that you perform at shrines, might be latest addition in forms of urban legends, but legends are legends non the less.

@Himp It could be due to her being raised with care and by many different people. There was no ill intent, hate or negative emotions in the ayakashi who were in the presence of kurona while she was slowly turning into an ayakashi. Not just in this chapter, but others too I think it was stated that an owner influences the soul of the ayakashi
