So it's a reverse Spice and Wolf? (Where the human is the one concerned with the other's longevity?)

Well yea, I mean, beside the practicality of it (The mortal dying before the immortal), there's also the social aspect - it's fine when you're both looking your age, but once he's become a 50-year old guy, society will raise eyebrows at him being romatically involved with what looks like a 16-year old girl.

Are we doing this 900 year old loli thing again? :fml:
Not necessarily: immortal doesn't mean old. She is going to school, and from tbe discussion it seems they are not completely sure of what her bloodline will actually result into... So, even if she is immortal, she is still a high school girl: the problem would be what will happen 80 years for now...

Some bad takes on immortality in this thread.

"She's going to outlive him! And have to mourn him!"
Everyone you don't outlive outlives you instead. Everyone you don't mourn lives to mourn you instead. There's no upside; someone is getting stuck with the pain no matter what. Mortality sucks.

"It guarantees a sad ending!"
See previous. Most relationships have a sad ending by this standard. Few couples die at the same time.

I can tell you all from personal experience that you don't have to stop making new friends and lovers just because you've experienced loss. It's not a requirement to mope forever.
