everytime i read this manhwa? i thing of declining birthrates in korea.
you have one girl you like and can see her normally the others look like stones to you, look i get what the story is trying to teach, but to me considering how things are socially these current days i think thats a great condition, imagine if you have no opinion of others based in their appereance but how they act and treat you, how many people would live their life so much better if they could do that.

What makes this complex for me is that her trauma affects her so severely she even blocks out her best friend's face. When Pig questioned why Sunwoo knew no details about Sookyung's family situation it was exactly because of that mechanism. She keeps everyone at arm's length. Hence why she broke down in front of Jin-Yong. Even though she was the one who was wronged, and imo rightfully developed a defense mechanism, she feels there is something fundamentally wrong with her because she cannot even see the face of her closest friend.
I appreciate how the author also onnects this to Jin-Yong. Seeing Sunwoo collapse because she cannot recognize Sookyung's face made him realize he should not neglect everyone around him either. He has friends beyond Sunwoo whom he needs to begin understanding on a deeper level instead of continuing to view them as stones. Her vulnerability became his wake-up call about how he treats the people in his own life. Ultimately if Jin-Yong figures out how to flip the switch on seeing people as stones then he can help Sunwoo figure out her condition too.

maybe seeing them as animals would be the real cheat skill. then you could read their faces and avoid some or all of the interpersonal downsides while getting most if not all of the benefits

we already had a predisposition to some animals, seen a cat will have a different effect than seen a komodo dragon, stones are neutral they may vary in color and shapes but the effect of seeing them are always the same, i get the story is teaching the importance of learning how to deal with people and society, to develop interpersonal skills but considering how many cant even handle seeing themselves it seems to me that this skill could help a lot of people, hell i would like to have that skill.

Nah bro, their state level family and child support is bad + the social pressure for success and high costs of living. Noone wants to set a child in the world if they aren't sure to be able to actually stay stable or at least recover from the costs.

This is blatantly false. It's a society that was built on social pressure and "work before self" which caused many of the younger generations to leave Korea entirely while those who stayed can't find the time or support to even want to start a family. Pair that with the fact that their country has been at war with "itself" for the past 76 years and it's a recipe for "why raise kids here?"
