That sentence is redundant. Its just "I wanted to surprise you" alot of the subjects of the sentences are getting mixed up too.

This felt like a huge tonal shift after that wild drama. It's like "oh yeah, the premise was meant to be in a video game", but the game wasn't fleshed out at all outside of the two doing fishing. Rough chapter for sure. As others have said too, the translation was a bit rough at times.
