went from slice of life with social commentary (released around covic) to dumb politics shit to annoying trope galore romance-action abomination with pacing issues causing whiplash and now spamming "fanservice", sexual assault and attempted rape on FMC your princess is in another castle style plus supernatural weird action.

only here to get a good laugh out of how bad it can get every now and then. I unironically think the author went rogue lmao

well, it does kinda go like that, new girl appears -> MC turns wishy washy when he was quite established -> drama -> new guy appears that is unbearably obnoxious and FMC is dumbed down to enable him -> more drama but somehow even worse than prior, nothing is organic and with terrible flow.

You just jump back and forth between them somehow being super smart and super strong, dealing with mercenaries using rifles and drones and shit and them being infinitely more stupid than the average teenager to enable whatever drama the author wanted.
I do think whiplash is the perfect word to describe the manga.

There absolutely was and is to both. Ch 65, 67, 68 all have people do these fancy One Piece Zoro moves, splitting a bear into 5 parts with one Katana swing. A lot of the cast has supernatural strength now.

Having to escape herself and do a hail mary long-jump is actually a pretty empowering moment.

It's a shame the author only thought to depict it as fucking fanservice, otherwise maybe we could've been talking about the tenacity of the human spirit, but, of course not, let's sexualize a rape victim...

I had hopes we were going to get a zig instead of zag and have him engaging in extreme gooner behavior like just wanting to see her dressed up & posing in fetish outfits while he jerks it, or foot fetish, or wanting something creepy-but-not-directly-sexual like her to be a replacement for his little sister. Author never forgave Covid for bowing out before he could milk it while it was trendy. Now he's left with old news and clearly doesn't know what to do with it, throwing darts at the board with the genres.

Using sexual assault bait as a cheap trick for engagement for four months before resolution was vile.
