It was stated near the beginning that the protagonist served during WW1. Now, Japan did go a bit overboard with chasing the Germans out of their hiding spots in China, forcing the rest of the allied countries to make Japan give up the land they'd taken, but to be fair, things have never been great between Japan, China, Korea, and the other islands and countries in that area. They've all been fighting each other for nearly a full millennium.

I find it hilarious that everything gets cancelled because of this. Just take a look at some of those chinese web novels and you will know what real racism novels are like. They don't even try to hide it.

Got axed due to a past controversy where author said some really racist shit so he got cancelled to death. It was also when the anime was just announced with the cast so all the VAs pulled out and the anime got cancelled too. The manga went into a brief hiatus and only continued to finish the arc with the cunt hero and get some sort of proper ending. The other manga by the author also went to a temp hiatus but that one’s still continuing since it’s pure fantasy and actually less popular (the story is not as exciting).

I’m more sad for the artist since they did a very good job.

They lost a war, the most heinous things happen in war. I don't see anyone complaining about what America did in Iraq. Literally committed almost every war crime and human rights violation on the list like they were going for 100% completion.
