Yes, but it's troublesome for the nobility. Nobles have a good position and nice life already, so they wouldn't typically want to risk anything by undertaking dangerous adventures, aside from some foolhardy young ones. However, adventurers growing strong, rivaling entire companies of soldiers, is a threat to the social order from the nobles' point of view. Of course if they manage to employ such adventurers, it could be all fine, but still there's always a risk that if such adventurers rebel, there's pretty much nothing the nobles could do about it. So, feeling insecure, the nobles would try to discourage an atmosphere where adventurers gain lots of public recognition, fame, and consequently pride and political ambition.
