Nice chapter. you can see he has changed his approach from the last chapter, and has learned. He doesn't try to be a saviour and go to the kid and treat him with love and affection. That's unrealistic. He acknowledges that there's no hope for him if he doesn't have an adult he can trust. I reckon one could go to the cops, but they would also handwave him away. It's a systematic issue in Japan.
