There is a way to solve this chapter's problem, The JSDF (Japanese Self Defense Force) exist only to protect Japan and it's citizen, so if there are a lot of Japanese citizen in the country they can move in in the pretence of "saving japanese citizen". It's almost like the story of GATE with it's JSDF. If i'm wrong sorry about it, if you can please help me correct it

And thus, the JSDF fought here ...

Well , there is a neat and reality based way of circumventing the no military clause: just send a UN force for peacekeeping proposes. With Japan as the only UN country in that world, it shouldn't be hard to pass that resolution ;)

@Waifhunter

The GATE situation is somewhat diferent. Technically, as the gate opened in Japan on there, the land on the other side of it is japanese territory as far as international law is concerned ( as no land, sea or air borders were crossed and as it wasn't declared international territory ) and the JSDF can do whatever it wants because of that.

In here ... Well, Japan has recognized the nations in the other world as political entities to the point of making commercial treaties. So, either the bar to external deployment is waived ... or a humanitarian / defense of Japanese citizens "reason" will appear.

i get that in the beginning you want to be diplomatic in order to figure out how the world looks, what factions there are and all their strengths but lets be honest, if a modern nation with modern weaponry and technology would be sent into a fantasy world we would be conquerors not observers.

So japan solves their food and oil problem but has to think about whether or not to send troops now that a foreign invasion is about to fuck all that up? Murica would have had troops on the ground as soon as they heard the oil field was in jeopardy lol

Well, TBH if anyone is in trouble in This manga, it is Japan. While they have a huge tech and military advantage, it is not that Japan has the resources to even maintain its forces operacional ( Japan is not exactly rich in source materials ) and even keep its population lifestyle ( say, Japan has next to none lithium thus no new cellphones or laptops ). Sure, they could go berserk for a while, but what would they do when their planes turbines needed spare parts ?

the constitution dilemma was quite easy one, japan has self defense force they can not send anywhere other than for self defense of japan so... all they had to do is to make their land part of Japan so they could defend it ?

they could Amend the Japanese Constitution I mean America is supposed to kinda be their sword and shield but with Japan being in another world kinda Moot point to keep going with the current form of governmental Law what with a lot of stuff not being accessible

@Owyn i was thinking the same thing, all they have to do is sell that land around there border to japan and then japan would just be defending not attacking

Yeah @rrolo1 thought about the same thing, but as the only acting member of the UN they can bring in new members witch would give them cause to defend other members of the UN while not disrupting the world if they leave again, as the other counties could still use the diplomacy of the UN to keep each other safe militarily or economically. or they could just annex them and install a (new) government after some time past or become there tributary for military support in exchange for food export and technology grants.

Unlike Gate, Japan has some advantages and disadvantages in this situation

Advantages
-More autonomy to act without pressure from international community
-No intelligent and espionage interference from superpowers
-Can get most of the profit in trade and resources with others world without having to share with the US

Disadvantages
-No US to supply them with ammunition, fuels and military hardware
-Having to expand more resources to mine resources from others country in the new world
-Lack of equally powerful allies to deal with threats in the new world

Logically there should be groups pushing for amendment, as the main enforcer of their current amendment (USA) is gone and they do need to protect their interests in the region, especially since the ones attacked are their resource rich ally which they needed. Just need to get the Emperor onboard.
@Tomrichman
The disadvantages are bad in short term, but long term it would be very profitable to exploit. They have the knowledge base to produce all the military necessities, and so are able to set up the industries in medium term. Until then, they have to ration what they have until production ramps up, but should be manageable considering enemies capabilities and availability of raw resource from the neighbouring kingdoms. And at least two nations are interested in advancing themselves and exchanging ideas, it would take a while to uplift them but it won't take centuries and would gain them powerful allies. Japan can also be the sole arms exporter, imagine Lord of War but state run.
It's moving too fast though, I don't believe a single medieval kingdom can produce that much surplus food especially since they have to stockpile for winter and most farmer should be on subsistence level farming. Unless the soil is just that (magically) rich and or they already used more advanced techniques.
