If I am not wrong, they should be in the "future" timeline and should be the parents of Inubousaki's nephew (?), the young guy interviewing elderly Asama. The one who is asking all the people about her.

I think the medium had problematic family/childhood, he seemed overly cynical about fatherly intuition.
Perhaps looking at the baby reminded him of something.

It did spur him on to (supposedly) leave a message at the hospital Via the payphone.

I think the interesting thing was that it wasn’t exactly a cuckoo situation at all, but the fact that he felt paternal was because he himself was possessed. Once again this manga throws us curveball twists!
