So that's Inubousaki's nephew and sister finding the doll on the beach in the flashback, and in chapter 13.2 the nephew went home and found the barnacle-encrusted empty box that Inubousaki's doll had been in as well as a newer, clean box containing a male-looking doll.

Looks like Souichirou is in the same situation in the present that Inubousaki was in back in 1999.

Pure confirmation of the Eldritch nature of the story. And this knowledge, deeply guarded I guess is enough to make one crazy. Paranoid, now able to "notice the signs". No need for any special sight, but it helps. This is paired with whatever other things are also happening naturally in the world I guess, the fish... things, the land spirits that are also getting eviscerated. Everything.
