Ig this is why everyone sent him weird looks when he lied about Ruck dying and running away.

In fact, with how Ruck seems to have real low self esteem, I wonder if everyone did tell Ruck he's a treasure but Ruck just though they were being nice to him.

So let me guess. Everyone knew about rucks skill and just assumed he knew or something...that is an honest trope I'm tired of.

It's like now that he left the group all of a sudden everyone is saying he was the most important one. Like they don't have pack mules of their own.

And we just found out his skill is rare.

Aye. As people actually were aware. Unusual in such stories.

Indeed, honestly it's a bit overdone at this point.

I feel like some stories do it for the sake of doing it.

While it would make sense with certain abilities, and if everyone has a stigma against it, but when it's semi-obvious to those outside, like "O look a guy with average sword skills is able to do things experts can do, that support must be really good.", but somehow no one notices.

I feel like they are overstating rucks ability there a bit... like yeah ruck was important to the team but its not like ruck couldve done all those quests himself either (keep in mind its only recently that he was appraised and found out to buff his team) so the guildmaster should have no way of knowing, and should also still assume ruck is dead unless the other guild where ruck tried to make a party let him know but in that case why is the guildmaster not on the swordsman case about the insurance money for rucks "death"
