Hmm. And I was just talking about narcissism in Matsurika...

Does this count...?

Anime's an amazing adaptation, but damn is the manga good too if this is a sign of its quality. Excited to finally finish the story after years of no third season.

rereading for first time since it ended. i remember being annoyed with how much bickering there was between our couple, and how it was most of the series

Onodera could’ve ended the whole series right here
But it wouldn’t have ended the way it was supposed to, then. Or be nearly so interesting. But shy girl is going to be shy girl and basically ruin her chances with second-guessing and hesitation.

Admittedly, I have a partial knowledge going into this, since I’ve seen the anime, but still… even without that, I’d still find it pretty obvious what’s going to happen in the broadest sense with these three. With a story like this, the two that start out crushing on each other require the least character growth and are the dullest romance. The two being forced together, despite initial revulsion, make so much more sense in terms of character and story development. I’d find it disappointing if it didn’t end with the titular ‘false love’ becoming real.

When you think about it, it's very strange considering Raku's characterization with just about everyone else later. He's treated like a guy that always tries to do the right thing for everyone, help anyone and everyone, smooth out relationships...

And yet here he is, right off the bat with his first conversation with this girl dismissing her apologies and seemingly intentionally butting heads with her when he should be trying to defuse and de-escalate. But maybe that's because he develops those skills through interacting with our increasingly eccentric cast, and he's just so inexperienced at this stage and dealing with one of the toughest customers in that respect.

From my perspective, he's the one that perpetuates the horrible atmosphere between the two of them. This definitely becomes more apparent at certain key moments. Even in some of the more 'filler' moments where she's feeling positive have him shitting in her corn flakes verbally for no good reason.

He should realize that trading barbs with her just makes her more agitated, but he just does it anyway.

A bunch of people in later comments act like she's just horrible in general, but the truth is she's actually nice to pretty much everyone else. There's really only two people that get on her nerves and make her react poorly, and that's Raku and Shu. Raku because he really does know how to get under her skin, and Shu because of his overt 'pervert' act that made it hard for me to like him until the times where he started talking seriously and it became clear he's a deeper character than he lets on normally.
