This is just how it must be. Once one goes, the rest follow swiftly in their own arcs. Part of the appeal of these sorts of manga is the status quo dynamics of the characters together, and once one goes away, that dynamic starts to fall apart. It's best for all the characters to get an arc focused on settling their feelings for the male lead one by one at that point.

Once Marika left for America, the story was going to enter this sort of spiral, until there were only two girls left.

And one final, fateful decision.

I was quite surprised how this turned out, but I realized it was the only way Tsugumi was going to deal with these emotions. By expressing them to him in a way he would be incapable of actually responding to them, and yet still lets her move on. She had to be assured, in truth, how Chitoge felt about him, despite the fake relationship, and decide for herself that she must let them go, for her ojou's happiness.

We have finally come to it, then. All that's left is Chitoge and Kosaki, is it? And what's left of the locket plot thread to wrap up, just for peace of mind.

And yet there is still over 20 chapters left. What is this? I guess some others were right that it was going a bit too quick, but at the same time, I feel like these two (Haru and Tsugumi) needed to be wrapped up quick in order to help push the remaining two we knew he did love forward with more breathing room.
