Let me guess: this is all his imagination, right? I mean, we've been dragging this whole "I can't ask him / her" thing for 28 chapters already. And there are 201 more chapters left. So there is no way thing isn't going to last for at least 180-190 more chapters, right? Because if characters could communicate in a sane, non-ambiguous way, this manga would have ended on chapter 10 at most.

For reference: It isn't anyone's imagination, but it doesn't end up being nearly so clear-cut as you all think. Neither of them remember clearly- Kosaki just reacted that way almost instinctively, and she's the one that backpedals, saying she just thinks she might be, because she also has memories of a promise 10 years ago. We still have yet another 'promise girl' with a key to introduce to muddy the memories beyond this point. Yes, 5/6 year old Raku was a friggin' player getting along with (at least?) three girls around the same time. And only one of them distinctly remembers being promised marriage, and it's none of the ones we've met so far. She's also absolutely terrifying and infuriating. I despise her, but she kind of makes sense, in a warped way.

And just because one of them proves to be the one to open the locket doesn't necessarily mean he'll end up with them, either. But the memories from 10 years ago are still important for the one who he does end up choosing. The locket itself might prove to be a bit of a 'red herring' with respect to the relationship, but the memories associated with it are still 'key', I'm sure of it, since it pretty much is guaranteed to be one of the girls from that time.

This is still important main plot progression, though. Kosaki Onodera has been confirmed with Raku as a 'promise girl' candidate, whether or not she ends up being the one to open the locket or end up with him. (two more to confirm and collect! though maybe the manga reveals yet another one... but three seems more than enough to me, plus two additional female suitors who don't quite have the same history but still)
