Y U NO TALK? 99% issues of this manga could have been solved if people were:

Using full sentences instead of shortened ones, e.g. for the question "Which apples do you like: red or green ones?"answered "I like red apples" instead of "red".

Asking questions instead of trying to figure things out:
Onodera: I saw you took a picture of Chitoge, is it because you started to fall in love with her even though you're just pretending to date each other?
Ichijirou: No, actually, it's because you're undressing on this photo and I wanted to take it to the teacher to take it down, see?
Onodera: Oh, right.
Ichijirou: Actually, here, take it to the teacher yourself. This way you won't have to trust my word and will be sure that I didn't snatch this picture for myself.
Onodera: Thank you, you're such a nice guy! This your trait is one of the reasons I've been in love with you for the past 50 years even though I'm just 15 years old, wanna marry me?

Confirming important things: "Unclear communication has already given us quite a few awkward moments in the past. So just to make sure, we're talking about X, right? - No, actually, I was talking about Y. - Oh, right. Now all what you said before finally makes sense".

Actually continuing interrupted conversation: "Hey, I've been meaning to ask you for quite some time alrea- OH MY GOSH A BALL HAS BROKEN THE WINDOW WE'RE STANDING IN FRONT OF / SOMEBODY CALLED ONE OF US / A WILD UFO APPEARED - and we can't brush it off or ask someone else to handle this situation! Well, let's forget about what we were going to talk for about 10-100 more chapters".

just when you think itll be a real clue, nope. new girl
Worst girl, too. At least, that's my assessment of her from watching the anime. And she's the only one that has a clear 'I was promised you'd marry me' sort of thing with. She remembers shit quite well from back then, but she mainly only rememebers stuff involving herself and Raku, because she doesn't really care about the other two, and most of her memories were from her bedroom at the time, anyway, where Chitoge and Kosaki probably weren't likely present.

To be honest, when you're talking about teenagers, do you really expect them to talk like properly reasoning, fully well-adjusted adults? Especially when they've got the social issues that the gangster heirs seem to have, in particular, highlighted with the whole 'friend notebook' thing early on.

I get the frustration, but we have a far clearer perspective both as, likely, grown adults, as well as observers of the situation. It's far different when you are actually in these situations. This also applies to the whole 'characters are dense' argument, as well, that frequently comes up with these sorts of frustrated rants. The ones that are involved can have a particular blindness and double-guessing of everything involving them, and that's believable, especially with kids like this. They're all emotionally unstable little shits that struggle to string together thoughts or rationalize things properly.

I feel like this is shit that should be expected, especially if one reads stories set in school like this. The added pressure of having to juggle school work and interpersonal relationships as developing human beings. Not to mention the added stressors that the main couple are clearly dealing with as gang heirs-apparent trying to keep all-out war from erupting and the growing number of 'promise girls' coming out of the wood-work weighing on the male lead and the two current front-runner girls... there's a lot of splitting of focus for a developing human mind. I know I'd have struggled to juggle this shit myself at 16. I was already strained as it was back then and I barely had a social life.

Also, his name is Raku Ichijou, not Ichijirou.
