Uh I feel like killing her would make things even worse, no?
Best guess is she’ll be forced to mass birth kids if she goes back or be sacrificed for some evil ritual.

Remember, racism is a bigger crime than burning someone alive.
Seriously! Obviously that dude deserved to die but what f’ing country lets you just murder a dude for being a dick? I could understand it if he’d grabbed the girl or something but this was just some basic taunting. It’s the equivalent of you calling a dude a dick, him responding by shooting you 47 times, and the court siding with you! Wtf!?

... I was gonna say he was from really early in the series, but I think he appeared around Ch.11 or so, which isn't that far back in the grand scheme of things, but with this series' release schedule...

Anyway, he was a bandit leader that kidnapped a bunch of women from a village (or something to that effect); he was, I think, the first human the MC killed and MC gained Oliver's signature spell.
Oh the dude mc stabbed in the neck? I definitely remember that but it’s insane to think that dude was literally the strongest man in the kingdom.

have the most beloved person killed of someone who would burn people for her sake, what a stupid plan.
if anything, that might make the knights and royals of this nation just appear to be even more stupid for going along with it.

Sweet summer child. He shows up in Chapter 6. Right after Sierra gets introduced. And when he meets Toa. He gets introduced and dies in like 14 pages, from failing to Protect Ya Neck. So yeah, almost at the beginning of the series.

Ima laugh so hard if this FLASH BACK ends up with No fucking info about the quest the demon lord or w.e Gave MC like 7 fucking years ago :shamihuh:

Like I can't believe with how SLOW this series updates that the author truly thought it was a GREAT idea to give us a WHOLE fucking chapter about a flashback THAT ISN'T EVEN PART OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS :lul:
It's world building about the rest of the world. We've literally only heard of 2ish countries so far ("Demon country", the country that got destroyed by Dragon's Heart, and even the Empire we effectively know nothing about). And we know there's a Beastman country. Because by Manga Law, there has to be one. And since we have a beast man character, we need something for them too. And like so many stories, you get side quests, that aren't the main line quest. It happens.

And we were bound to get a follow up to Oliver Joe. It's the literal first half of Chapter 10. It's been a plot thread hanging out there for that long. And it's a conspiracy thread, that directly impacts the King. I'm going to assume the Wife was a thief thing, is what was used to hide the true cause of her death, so as to prevent a War. So the discrepancy thus far, I can sort of hand wave away. And Oliver Joe was not happy about the Death, or the fake story the King made to cover it up. And his resentment at having to follow a King who destroyed his Love, led to his becoming a common Thief.

To be fair to King Richard, Anna was royalty twice over (once by being a foreign princess, and a second time by being adopted into the royal family; the King at the time doted on her and treated her as a blood-related granddaughter).
So the guy insulted his boss's girlfriend to his boss's face, and the girlfriend also happens to be his boss's boss's granddaughter. Who is also the kingdom's princess. Insulting royalty like that is usually inviting pretty harsh punishment.

Not always execution, of course, but the guy was taunting a man known to have gone from being a pacifist to becoming one of the strongest military soldiers in the kingdom's history for the sake of protecting his girlfriend.

The Oliver in the King's story sounds like a capable warrior that insired fear to his enemies.
The Oliver we saw in the first chapters of the manga is just a bottom tier bandit who died easily.
Also the reason his wife was killed was different back then.
I mean, their power levels weren't even that high back then? He could be strong for a lower ranked mob. The King specifically says the country itself was weak back then. The King's White Knights probably hadn't even been formed yet. So they were probably a lower tier military power.

But, you also have to acknowledge, Masamune assassinated him from a blind spot using Super Speed. You could be super strong in general. And still be dwarfed by Masamune's stats at this point. Sierra is probably around level 40 now, Masamune started his adventure above ground at Level 697.

And as I mentioned earlier in this thread, I'm going to assume those different details are part of the story that was concocted to justify her death. Beast Knights came to find her, but she was a thief that had to be put down. And because the Kingdom is weak militarily, they had to accept and release that fake story. And Oliver Joe, did not take kindly to that.

talk about bullying the dragon trope. that idiot went to a guy that got powers to burn and expected one or two punches but got roasted. he was too dumb to live. how was he alive until now? i don't find it hard to see him trying to pick fights with bears only for him land in a sickbed for years.

The racism was whatever. The real sin was insulting his waifu.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lèse-majesté is probably the official crime being alleged. That's Her Royal Highness Waifu, to you.

The Crown Prince formally adopted her. So ignoring her Beastman royalty status, which I'm assuming was hidden to prevent her being located, she was literal royalty. On the other end, insulting the Commanding Officer's Lady, is easily insubordination on it's own.

An offense against the crown, can easily result in any number of punishments for commoners. If the offender is a soldier/noble/servant of the state, it can easily be way worse. Openly insulting Royalty, instant punishment. In other stories of the genre, things like whipping and other corporal punishment is commonly mentioned. Implying you'd rape a member of the Royal Family? Life imprisonment seems like the default, if not outright death.

I don't really think the king killed her, but if he did, it would be mental :lul:
Mental indeed. Anna asking for such a cruel favour must be a beast people cultural thing. Most certainly not a thing among humans. No way Arnold would simply do it. Not to mention those beast country folks would interpret it the worst way imaginable. If refusing to hand her over may lead to war, then how killing her wouldn't? The only reason why it might not is if she's being taken back to her own country to face an immediate execution. In that case those folks from the beast country might be highly annoyed if Anna died early, but since she would die in any case, maybe they wouldn't be offended enough to start a war. Taking back her corpse might serve their purposes as well.

ahh yes because stories notoriously have no flashbacks that aren't part of the main character and have nothing to do with villain motivations XD

Quote from man burned to death:

"What are you gonna do, burn me to death?"
ah yes, let me bully the dude that can literally burn you to cinders
I wouldn't even call what he was doing as "bullying". That implies he had some sort of upperhand or was punching down.

No, the dude was just straight up picking a fight with a man who made it clear that he was willing to make the dumbass regret it.

Considering Ch. 11 was 6 years ago…
My theory is that the author doesn't have a very involved editor. I see the same thing happen with hyper-successful fanfiction. They author blasts through dozens of chapters in their first five years then start slowing down as their story gets larger than they can handle, and eventually have no idea what to do with it. This story is an excellent example of the author suffering from success. I pity him and hope his publisher would help him story craft ahead so he isn't so burdened with his monster of a story growing too many tentacles to handle at the same time. But that's just my theory.
