His allies only just now got to the battlefield after nearly a year of being told they went to the field. At this rate it'll likely be another year before the MC shows up to curbstomp any enemy around at that point.

No, it wasn't three headed. It was three basilisks.

You know, it is kind of nice when side characters can actually hold their own. It makes the world feel bigger, more alive.
Yeah, it really breaks the immersion when the whole cast is worlds apart in terms of strength compared to the MC because the reader has to wonder how such an unbalanced world hasn't crumbled yet when everyone except the MC is so weak - it gets even worse when the bad guys are somewhat powerful and outclass every native by a mile except the foreign entity that is the MC who usually joins into an already existing universe. It cheapens those stories immensely

That's why I like OPM. It has an enormous roster of side characters that are usually perfectly capable of resolving whatever danger is going on by themselves, and while the main character is a ridiculous outlier that CAN resolve anything instantly, that strength is very rarely actually needed.

However, that's where the similarities with this story end. Masamune is definitely settling into the Goku/Saitama/Superman problem. He's gotten so strong that he almost HAS to stay benched until things are at their absolute worst. The difference between them and Masamune though is that the former still appear in their stories elsewhere, while the latter has been a ghost for what feels like an eternity.

It nice that we’ve finally got to the characters that matter to the story and not some random side characters that showed up to just die and be forgotten.

I'd appreciate these side chapters more if they at least had effort put into them. The panels are too close to the subject, there's little to no background work, and the combat is horribly stiff. What's the point of spending a fuckin year on this shit if nothing's going to come of it?
