However, Rafal Jaki mentioned in the comments that the next project is already in the works, so I'm hoping this the sort of deal where the same setting will be explored further with a new serialisation.

A shame, it was probably my favourite ongoing thing in Jump after Ichi the Witch.

Time Paradox Ghostwriter got on the same ranking board, but it had low readership inside of Japan. It's not a direct correlation.

Shame to hear it got canned but I started really hype about it because it reminded me of edgerunners and noir stories but it kept slogging and the chapters were really dense and long but got nowhere and by the time a new chapter came out I had forgotten it even existed...I'm not even up to date reading it and I don't want to lol

I guess we did get a lot of development quickly, like with axed series. (6 eyed doggo, polar bear, revenge on mind control guy)

14 chapters for a manga in the "shonen jump+" is really short, Japanese readers really hated this manga. It had potential but the author got lost in a story of conspiracy and corruption, and the bear fights didn't help for understanding. In any case the artist draws very well, I hope to see his style again soon.

It's such a shame it ended up as a poor way to superficially implement fight scenes into the story. I expected some kind of reveal that the bear fight tournaments are directly connected to conspiracy, but nah, not even a single bear fighter was involved in any way in the murder case.

I just revisited old chapters, and within these 13 chapters, there are 4 bear fights included (Ula vs some random bear). 4 fights with same type of opponent, and each of them is getting easily destroyed by Ula. It ended up repetetive and with no stakes, and a speed bump for the story pacing.

I share your opinion, we see that the author wanted to put action scenes so he added the bear fights. But in the end it just slowed down the pace of the story and made readers lose interest who were wondering what their interest was.
The manga would be much better if the bear fights were replaced by clashes between the heroes and the conspirators, we could have had lots of different name powers in action.
