It's honestly really hard to ban social media, but is incredibly important for mental health.
Around 8 or 9 years ago, I found myself doom scrolling Facebook for 3 hours after I got home from work. Just sitting on my couch. I hated how I felt about myself and I never posted anything myself, only commenting on other people's posts, so I just deleted it and it was hard. I kept finding myself trying to check the app whenever I had down time. After a few days I didn't even miss it anymore, but I kept getting asked "why aren't you on Facebook?" by friends, family, and coworkers. Thankfully I avoided the Instagram and TikTok crazes because of how I handled Facebook. I eventually also stopped using Reddit daily (still use it for random game questions). Now I just have YouTube, and I barely comment, and the mangadex/batotoo forums.
My social media is incredibly limited and I've never felt better. My wife recently disabled her Facebook for a week and had the same struggles for the first few days but felt much better at the end of the week, sadly she had to reactivate it for work reasons. She wants to do the same with TikTok because she knows she's addicted, but she hasn't pulled the trigger on that one yet lol
